This month, O’Keefe released videos of a man going to various state health and human services departments claiming to be a supporter of the IRA (Irish Republican Army). The kilt-clad man asked if “25 Irish nationals” who were “basically shot up in a skirmish in Belfast” could receive Medicaid. The government employees agreed to help him and also to keep the legal and questionable nature of the intended recipients confidential.

![]() Government works a hell of a lot better then private industry. Maybe government is often jaded, unresponsive, and out of touch. But it has no reason to discriminate or sabotage. Since profit motive and "competition" is out of the equasion... what motivation would there be to with hold goods, services, and dignity from people? Right-wingers act like government is going to be dicks for the sake of being dicks. We don't believe capitalists just wake up every morning, wanting to put more people into homelessness. But by the very nature of capitalism, it does... because they're out to make a profit, crush competition, cut costs, and monopolize. Therefore, everyone else must suffer, must be poor, and must be exploited for all their worth. Whatever power, control, or reasoning you think government has to commit evil, private industry has ten times more reason to do. And unlike capital, government requires participation, and cooperation. And I don't just mean "doing business with". I mean ACTIVE participation in voting, and going along with the rule of law. It takes far more consent and tenacity to run a state then it does a private industry. Which means there's less room for taking it to extremes and going wrong. I'm not saying the state is perfect, but I'd rather the state run EVERYTHING then private, autocratic, owners. State capitalism is infinitely times better, and the official policy of many successful countries. China has us by the balls, China is a state capitalism. North Korea is poor as shit, yet somehow survives and we persistently see as a threat. Why? Because they're a self sufficient state capitalism... |
