During MSNBC's Morning Joe program this morning, political analyst Mark Halperin was asked his opinion of President Barack Obama's criticism of Republicans during yesterday's news conference. Mr. Halperin's response earned him an indefinite suspension from the network and prompted abject apologies from both MSNBC and the analyst himself. But exactly what did Mr. Halperin do wrong?

Mr. Halperin followed that with an official statement of his own: "I completely agree with everything in MSNBC’s statement about my remark. I believe that the step they are taking in response is totally appropriate. Again, I want to offer a heartfelt and profound apology to the President, to my MSNBC colleagues, and to the viewers. My remark was unacceptable, and I deeply regret it." .................................................. ......
