I was just looking over a report from the Tax Foundation regarding Taxes Paid to the Federal government VS Spending received from the Federal Government.

Of course, there's a disparity in some places... Most places, actually.

California is a net loser, for example.

This disparity is what the libs point to when they claim that Red States are "leeching" money from Blue ones..

But in saying this, they are assuming that, so long as exactly as much tax money sent to the Federal Government comes BACK to the State in the form of Federal spending, that everything is good and equitable and fair and all of that.

But is it really that simple?

I mean, look at California here.. According to the Tax Foundation, in 2005 they remitted 289,627 MILLION DOLLARS in taxes to the Federal Government...

On a per capita basis (And again, according to the Tax Foundation) this works out to $8,028.00 per person in the State of California.

Now, libs.. that's a lot of fucking money. Over 8 grand for everyone in the State? That's a whole lot!

Is there ANYTHING (Aside from possibly national defense) that the Federal Government does for you that you couldn't do for yourselves with EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS PER PERSON in taxes?

Couldn't you use that money to buy healthcare for every person in the State AND still invest for their retirement? It's more than enough if you taxed it directly..

If you wait for it to return in the form of spending, where does it go? Some of it goes to corporations and defense. It goes to cronies and it does so in ways you cannot control.

Tell me why you don't prefer to abolish these Federal Taxes and all the games and cronyism, and just distribute the money however you see fit?

Are you worried about people and businesses fleeing the state? Is that it?

Why do you prefer to let this money sift through Washington and be wasted on things you don't need to want, when there's PLENTY of money to pass around amongst yourselves?

Instead of leaving you with stuck taxing pennies, while the big bucks get hoovered up and spread around by a corrupt machine in DC?
