Actor Paul Giamatti compared filming a movie in Detroit to "being in prison" on ABC television’s LIVE! With Regis and Kelly.

Giamatti was in the film, shot partly in Ann Arbor and Detroit. It also stars George Clooney. WHAT???!!!!!

Just because they had to have armed guards all around the set 24/7?

Following the commercial break that came after his remark, Giamatti apologized and said he was referring to the job and not the city. Bullshit.

It's a damn travesty that you can't just call a spade a spade anymore in this country. Detroit is a shit hole. He's thinking it, hell, we're all thinking it.

It's true. Though, in this country, an opinion can ruin a person. Look what happened to Juan Williams. Like him or hate him, Republican or Democrat, the guy only said what many people in this country feel, yet he was thrown under the bus for that.

I really think it worked out for the best with Juan.
Fox conveniently swept him up full time after that and I'm thinking that was a much better deal for Juan.
As far as people being afraid: I think it's time for everyone to STOP!

It may have worked out for him in the end, but as a professional, to be reducible, rejected and dismissed then referred to as a "Fox Token Negro" was utter BS. People have taken this politically correctness shit way too far.

Detroit was one of the powerhouses of production after WWII with cars and steel. Lots of jobs, great economy. Unfortunately the FREE TRADE deals were all signed and the production jobs - all of them - went overseas. Killed our trades, killed our economy. Now China-Are-Us.
