Yemen has been a powder keg forever and a day anyhow..

It's absolutely pregnant with revolution and violence.

Another pressure cooker.. Regime in place for half a century, employs 1/3rd of the work force. Poverty & a centrally planned economy means government takes the blame. around 10% unemployment. 23% below the poverty line. Inflation at 5%. Net food importers. Over half of household income goes just to feed themselves.

70% male & 99% muslim.

It's going to get worse, because they're trying to buy their way out of it, despite debts in the 25+% of GDP range. Algeria embarked on a program last year to spend 100+% of GDP on "infrastructure" Which had BETTER result in improved living standards.. As opposed to just busy work to put money in citizens pockets.

I don't think I'll be vacationing there.

The fact that the government has extended "Emergency powers" and curtails political activity says they know they're going a balancing act too..

They're also bent on getting rid of Egypt, aren't they?

What do you mean? Dissolving borders?

That's a distinct possibility all across the region.

These "borders" are a bit of a false construct left over from British Colonialism. I don't know about Egypt specifically, but I wouldn't be surprised AT ALL if they evaporated at some point in the future.

IMVHO.

Egypt is key to sitting on the Palestinians.

One of Israel's big concerns will be what happens to the previously secure border if Egypt gets a functional democracy..

It's difficult to imagine them continuing to police their fellow muslims as Mubarak did. Destroying tunnels and jamming steel plates in the ground..

I don't think they will have trouble with Egypt unless their morale collapses.

Well, Egypt is what's been preventing smuggling of weapons..

OTOH, they also "smuggled" food, building materials and other items to survive.

They could also presumably "smuggle" in foreign fighters..

It's really difficult to say what will happen with the military in control. There might not even BE an election.

Smuggling weapons won't help against the Israelis. Their advanced military is unrivaled in the Middle East. A war in the desert is all about mobility, and the Israelis have it. Concerning the Military, I will guess they are more likely to start a dictatorship and seize power. Next time the people are gonna have to be more smarter in following who has power.
