IMO, it really depends on the integrity of the military..
Democracy would be good for the Muslims there, but may have negative implications for US foreign policy and they neighbors. If the military is corrupt, they may rig the elections or install a dictator. Neither of which will be good for Egyptian Muslims, but it'll make us and the jooz breathe a little easier. Personally, I'm fine with a democracy there.. It will present challenges we'll have to deal with in the coming years, but the only alternative is some type of colonialism.. Which I don't know that we can afford, or even successfully pull off even if we could afford it. |

Most interesting scenario: They go Iran-like and join Iran in attacking Israel. I doubt they have a death wish, however. Attacking a bunch of paranoid kikes with nukes and a persecution/Armageddon complex might be inviting just that. However, if they get a democracy you can expect the police work along the occupied territories to all but cease. I don't know that Egyptian Muslims will maintain a seamless border that's killing their Islamic brethren. Israel will have a dancing shit fit if they get a real democracy. |

These folks are different in a way Americans just can't appreciate.
Bush found that out when Hamas won the elections he had such a screaming fit make happen.. France and London have learned. These people just aren't about to toss a thousand year religion down the toilet and act like us. So yeah, if they get a real democracy it's going to be more "radical" than many expect. |
