Students' Regents Test Scores Bulge at 65
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...googlenews_wsj A Wall Street Journal analysis of high-school Regents test scores shows that a disproportionate percentage of New York City students barely got the passing score they needed to receive a diploma in the past two years, while very few received scores just below passing. The New York City graduation rate for 2009 was 59%, up from 46% in 2005, a rate of improvement that far outpaced the rest of the state. The Bloomberg administration has attributed the increase to the new accountability systems that empower principals. Over 45,600 New York City students graduated last year. I mean if we'll just let the teachers fudge the numbers, why more kids graduate!!! It's so simple!! Educational problems solved!!! YAY for NY. |

Sounds like the OPPOSITE of "accountability" to me. He talked about 'empowering' teachers and administrators...and crediting that 'empowering' as the reason for the higher numbers. Basically, he allowed teachers and administrators in the educational system, to fudge numbers, and lie. Then stood back and said 'see! my system works! More are graduating!!!'. It's beyond belief that people put up with that shit. And it's pathetic that parents aren't up in arms about it. Ah well, the Mighty Television will provide those missing areas of education...no big deal I guess... |

And as long as he can claim credit for "improving education" (L-Tards, which he is.. Even if he does have a "R" behind his name.. have a strange pre-occupation with education anyway) he's probably happy to just let the train roll on..

The saddest part is that what I consider more important than just about anything else is simply becoming a damn joke...we're the punch line. If you really believe in such a bright future, look at the kids. There's our future. working out well, isn't it? |
