http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefi...h-era-tax-cuts
The bill extends only the cuts for the middle-class, letting tax breaks end for families earning more than $250,000 per year and individuals making more than $200,000. Congress originally authorized the cuts in 2001 and 2003. Three Republicans, Walter Jones (N.C.), Ron Paul (Texas) and John Duncan (Tenn.), voted with Democrats to renew only the middle-class cuts. Senate Republicans have enough votes to filibuster the proposal, making it highly unlikely it will pass through the upper chamber and onto President Obama's desk. __________________________________________________ ______________ Now I think this is great news.. Should everyone get a tax cut? Yes.. But it's still better than nothing. Now McConnell is threatening to filibuster this in the Senate... I know why he's doing it, but imo.. That's not cool. He's having a hissy fit and basically adopting the position that, if everyone can't have a tax cut.. then NO ONE will get a tax cut. Which is typical, R-Tard bullshit. |

This is why I'd like to beat Ron Paul with his own leg (after I chop it off with an axe). The pussies always come out of the woodwork when their party is in the majority. And frankly, if Obama doesn't want the additional cuts, they're going to be hard to get.. He still has the veto pen and it really depends on just how hard he's willing to push on this. Having lost Congress, he may also plan on saving those cuts as some sort of bargaining chip.. Which is a low down, bullshit tactic.. But I can see him doing it. Regardless of what happens, I'm glad they passed some cuts today.. Because with a guy like Obama in charge (A thin skinned autocrat with a veto pen) a bird in the hand is worth 20 in the bush. |

Well, Paul did vote for the tax cuts... Other Republicans opposed them, claiming if the rich didn't get their cuts then NOBODY is getting a cut. Paul voted for the cuts Pelosi laid out. Most economists are saying it would be a disaster to raise ANYONE'S taxes right now. The Pubs don't want to kill the middle class in this fight. They just think they'll win it in the long run. After January the lame ducks will be gone and they can retroactively cut taxes if they want anyway. |

After January the lame ducks will be gone and they can retroactively cut taxes if they want anyway. BTW - Related: The IRS controller is going NUTS over this retroactive tax cutting. Says they programmed the system with the basis that Congress was going to do an AMT fix, and retroactive tax cuts will fuck everything up and delay tax returns till some time after the sun burns out.. Really not a happy camper right now. |

Yeah, if they can get Obama to go along.. And I'm sure he will, if his price is met. I think the American public has made it quite clear that they dont want his agenda... He starts vetoing the solution to his stupidity then he may as well guarantee himself and liberals they will never be elected again.. |

Let Obama try to start vetoing bills... They are expecting him to use some kind of non-existent leverage on the Republicans right now.. Even doing ad buys to encourage him.. They're nuts. |
