No, I'm not abandoning Stewart, I'm certainly not joining those nuts, I just have to admit that it truly does appear the Tea Party is an organization solely focused on fiscal responsibility, and financial reform in Government. Just because Sarah Palin is in the Tea Party doesn't mean it is also about social beliefs. It is just a group of people, forming, to stop the Government, who right now believe that this issue is more important than any other, and therefore it is worth coming together for.
It happened when I was listing what I disagreed with Marco Rubio on, I came upon this. Oppose Obama stimulus package; it's bad for America. Support balanced budget amendment and line-item veto. Demand a Balanced Budget amendment. Limit federal spending growth to per-capita inflation rate. Work across the aisle to make America more business-friendly. Eliminate taxes on capital gains; lower corporate tax rates. Loser pays, to discourage frivolous lawsuits. Identify constitutionality in every new congressional bill. Audit federal agencies, to reform or eliminate them. Moratorium on all earmarks until budget is balanced. Opposes restrictions on the right to bear arms. AZ law may unreasonably single out some citizens. Allow children of illegals to pay in-state college tuition. God does not love America more than Belgium. Simplify our tax code; reduce the tax burden. Supports flat-rate federal tax; opposes increased tax rates. http://www.ontheissues.org/Senate/Marco_Rubio.htm WOW! This is why he won, and this is why I should have voted for him, despite our disagreements, he agrees with me on what's important, Government Spending, and Government Power. |

I think he does live in the real world, to me people like Sarah Palin do not live in the real world.
Patriotism is defined as the love of country and willingness to sacrifice for it, it doesn't say anything about the Constitution, Bill of Rights, these are things you associate with Patriotism. I too agree with the Bill of Rights/Constitution, but I don't believe that one cannot be a patriot without believing in them. |

You do know the entire inventory of his show from the first episode in 1999 is avaliable online, I've seen every one. There is not one point where Jon Stewart Mocks the Bill of Rights, or those who made it possible. I've-seen-the-show.--However-last-January-My-uncle-was-in-a-horrible-car-crash-that-crushed-his-legs-and-I-since-I-didnt-have-a-steady-job-at-the-time-I-was-his-live-caretaker-and-he-loved-JOHN-STEWART... comedy-central-24-7-365... Well, ya did the right thing, for what it's worth. Probably doesn't feel very worth it, but it is, somehow.
I never hear Stewart say anything to the jest of wanting to be socialist or Marxist. It seems to me that he doesn't always take a clear stance on some of the heavier issues. He just does a damned good job of exposing the insanity of our Government for what it is. He single handily ended Crossfire, which was a terrible show that tried to form the narrative that the world was Republican vs. Democrat. |
