Bush: I was worried Cheney wouldn’t be my friend if I didn’t pardon Scooter Libby
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2010/11/b...-pardon-libby/ "He wanted me to pardon him," Bush told NBC's Matt Lauer. "And this was a decision that -- a real life decision for the presidency, really. I chose to let the jury verdict stand after some serious deliberation. And the vice president was angry." "You went to him and you told him," Lauer explained. "You said he was furious and he said, 'I can't believe you're going to leave a soldier on the battlefield?'" "Yeah, he did," the president said. __________________________________________________ ________ |

GW's pardon list doesn't even compare to Bill Clinton's. But, yeah.. I followed all 8 years of Clinton's horseshit.. From the assault weapons ban to demonizing militias to the Marc Rich pardon. It's really not a matter of contrasts though, as one bad pardon doesn't excuse another. And, frankly.. Cheney always bothered me. It's a trend we're seeing continue into the Obama administration. What is up with the party and the President suddenly picking unelectable VP's? Although he is a former congressman, Cheney would never have been elected to the top spot.. His health would have seen to that. Plugs Biden? Please.. The only way he'll ever be President is if Obama drops dead.. It's curious. |

I think Bush was personally a great guy, I would love to have a beer with him, and I know that he really wanted to do the right thing, but he was too easily controlled by people who claimed to make him what hew was.
If Bush would have ruled based on what he thought was right, he would have made a much better President, instead he found himself taking positions others chose for him. |

Don't get me wrong, although I agree with Clinton's fiscal conservatism, I do not agree with his pardon of Edgar and Vonna Jo Gregory, Peter MacDonald, Almon Glenn Braswell, Linda Sue Evans and Susan Rosenberg of Weather Underground, Dan Rostenkowski, Melvin J. Reynolds ,who was convicted of soliciting Child Pornography, or his Half Brother!
Bush had a much longer list than just Scooter! Bobby Mac Berry, Geraldine Gordon, Phillip Anthony Emmert, Michael Dwayne Short, Patricia Beckford, John Forté, James Russell Harris, Reed Raymond, Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean. Many of these people were convicted on Cocaine and Meth Charges. Surprising? Not really, Bush was a big coke head back in his day. Forté was arrested at Newark International Airport after accepting a briefcase containing $1.4 million worth of liquid cocaine. http://www.thebatt.com/2.8530/produc...rges-1.1215343 Simply put, no one should be above the law, including the President, and his friends. |

We all do, the question I've been asking myself lately, why can't we find another Reagen? Why is it that instead of emulating him, every Republican seems to be the opposite of him? Second, they never wanted him.. Republicans of the Rockefeller-Ford mold hated him. Later they realized they could use him though.. Because they are unable to run on what they really believe. Using Conservatism gives them a cloak of legitimacy. |

First, Reagan wasn't even all that great by objective standards.. But he was the best we had in a while. He came at a time when he was sorely needed and set a new standard in the process. |
