No one here is defending fudgepacking. Are you acquainted with the concept of the "Rabbit's Garden"?
In areas where there are a lot of rabbits or other wildlife that like to help themselves from people's vegetable gardens, people have been known to make the main garden with as many things possible to keep out the rabbits, but to plant a small garden outside of the main one for the rabbits to eat from.
