I guess if you ignore every single human event that occurred since then, Jimmy might be right. But given the complexity of the world and human behavior, Jimmy is actually a retarded old fool.
http://www.deseretnews.com/article/7...rter-says.html America hasn't improved much over past 3 decades, Jimmy Carter says By Jessica Harrison, Deseret News America is no better off now than it was in the late 1970s and early 1980s, says former President Jimmy Carter. From national politics to relationships with other nations, there is a lot of room for improvement. "We had almost complete harmony with every nation on Earth," the Nobel Peace Prize winner said of his administration. "We not only preserved peace for our country, we never went to war. We never dropped a bomb. We never fired a missile." |

Well, he's partially right about that.. We had nearly continuous war and conflict since he left.
Much of it optional. Just as his CIA backed goading in Afghanistan was. Still, President peanut head sucks ass and was fired after a single term as a direct result... They took down his stupid solar panels too. |

I don't thing that has a thing to do with him though, there was a really good time after Vietnam for us, we were still the leaders in the economy, we were much more respected back then.
Carter while he may have not been President during this time, is partially responsible for the economic downturn, because of his economic strategy. One could argue the Carter helped us by showing us what not to do to help the economy. I would also say that George Bush Sr. did little of anything, and Clinton boasted great foreign relations, and a good economy. I would have to say that although we were in for a slight downturn at the come of his Presidency, it wasn't so much that we had to go the way we did. I would say that these times began in the Year 2000, When Clinton left and Bush Jr. took over. Not to say that Clinton is not like Carter, his policies may be partially responsible for the economic downturn, although he didn't lay the straw that broke the camel's back As bad as Nixon was said to be, as terrible things he said, as paranoid as he was he made an excellent President. You're talking about the man who ended the war in Vietnam! The Economic ideas have shifted ever so much from the times of Nixon. Back then we ran the Country as if it was extremely serious business, now we run it like it's a video game! We don't think things through, we don't use common sense. What could it be I wonder that shifted us so heavily from that era. Drugs, no they were around... Promiscuity? My Grandmother would probably have thought so, but I don't. High Fructose Corn Syrup? Maybe. Whatever it is, it sure is a shame. |

Jimmy Carter is correct that things suck since he left office. Indeed have gotten worse. It is also correct when it is pointed out that things sucked when Jimmy Carter was in office. Indeed got worse. I was alive then. Economy in deep recession and the hostage crisis. Things have sucked and gotten worse ever since Lincohen started the civil war.
