Rep. Cantor: Stop Classifying Israel Aid as ‘Foreign Aid’
The ever growing US commitment to throwing massive amounts of foreign aid at Israel is a special case, insists Rep. Eric Cantor (R – VA), and so much so that it shouldn’t even be considered “foreign aid,” which is handled by US State Department. Rather, Cantor wants to see Israel’s subsidy separated entirely from the State Department, and turned over to the US military directly.
The “why” is somewhat convoluted, but centers around Rep. Cantor’s designs on forming a Republican opposition to foreign aid to a number of nations in the Middle East which “do not operate according to American interest.”
One would like to ask Representative Cantor as to precisely when, since its inception, has Israel operated "...according to American interest>"?!?
Was it during the attack on the USS Liberty? Was it the seizure of a US-flagged ship in international waters, and the murder, in cold blood, of an American citizen on the aid flotilla to Gaza?
Is it the continual spitting in the face of American diplomats and Presidents by refusing to draw its borders or make any concessions in any of the alleged "peace processes" in which it has participated?
Is it the consistent torture and killing of Palestinians in the name of the creating a "Greater Israel"?
I have a memo for Representative Cantor: all aid, military and financial, to Israel (illegal, by the way, under the Symington Amendment) be stopped until Israel does - for once - "operate according to American interest."
