Dear Heritage Intermediate Parent/Guardian:

Recently our school received its 2006 Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) test results. Though our school as a whole met state designated proficiency levels, certain sub groups of our students did not. Specifically, in communication arts, black students and students with individualized education plans did not meet the prescribed proficiency level. In mathematics, black students and students who received free or reduced lunch did not meet prescribed proficiency levels. Due to these scores, Heritage Intermediate did not meet adequate yearly progress and has been designated by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a "school in improvement." This is Heritage Intermediate's third year with this designation.

As a parent and/or guardian with a student at Heritage Intermediate, you are being offered a chance to apply to enroll your student in another Wentzville School District elementary school. This school enrollment option is being offered due to the "school in improvement" designation. The availability to choose a different school within the district will be based on several criteria including:

o Your student's MAP scores (priority will be given to students scoring at the below basic and basic levels);

o Your student's free or reduced-priced lunch status (priority will be given to students who qualify for federal free or reduced-price lunch status);

o Availability of grade-level placement in individual buildings as identified in this letter.

Please note that if your student is granted admission into a different elementary school, the district will provide transportation for your student to attend this school as long as Heritage Intermediate is identified as a "school in improvement." If Heritage Intermediate is no longer classified as a "school in improvement," your student may continue at the selected school, but you will be required to provide transportation.
