dont thinks so, i dont really know many somalis to be honest.
i have heard of the name Noor which means

Noor=arabic= light
Iftin= somali= light

edit i have just researched the name Nuru
Nuru meaning and name origin

Nuru \n(u)-ru\ as a boy's name (also used as girl's name Nuru), is pronounced ner-ROO. It is of Swahili and Arabic origin, and the meaning of Nuru is "born at night".

The written form of Līga looks funny. Liga means ilness in Lithuania. Though the proniunced form probably would sound similar to lyga meaninh league. We also have word ligi meaning till, to. Zane is realted to Žana?

Zane comes from Zuzanna and it is a really common Latvian name. I don't know why, but people sometimes call me Zane... they think that I look like a typical Zane.

Līga is the most traditional Latvian name, it's connected with Midsummer - June 23 - Līgo Diena, the Day of Līgo and Jānis is the most traditional Latvian male name also connected with the Midsummer - June 24 - Jāņu Diena, the Day of Jāņi. I am not sure but I think that Līga comes from the Latvian verb - līgoties which means - to sway, to swing... and it's actually pretty logical since people dance a lot during the Midsummer festivities.

Here is how they should be pronounced.

Equal is lygus in Lithuanian, linguotis - to sway but I don't know any names attached to these words.

I have already made a post about Lithuanian names and surnames:

Jonas is also in the nr. 1 position.

These are ethnic Latvian names, not the names of the people living in Latvia...
And the situations can't be much different from year 2005, because like 90-95% of people who lived in 2005, still live in 2012.

And you probably know no Marijas because I assume you don't have a lot of pensioner friends, as this name is more popular within older people.

Look at the title of the thread.

I just googled for most popular baby names in Latvia... a lot of them are really non Latvian. And I just remembered one Marija that I know. hehehe.

And btw, I know one Juris Zariņš who is a Russian speaker and far from being an ethnic Latvia and I also now a lot of people with Russian names and surnames that are Latvian.
