A full scale multi ethnic one. I am currently living in Holland and depending on where you are, you only see Dutch people and a lot of them "look a like" if you know what I mean. Of course there are a lot of Antillean, Moroccan, Turkish people here, but it differs from where you are. And I have come to realize that I like seeing a lot of different kinds of people, it seems like that's how it's supposed to be to me.
The feeling of all our different ethnic and cultural types to be able to live amongst each other, diversity, I love it. |

Foreign population on a low level. I'd like to live in a state with sensible immigration policies; a country- and skill-based quota system, a complete ban on family reunification, and so on. I don't mind seeing uncommon faces or coming into contact with foreign cultures, but they must not be allowed to form durable communities in their host country. Immigration should be limited, diverse and selective. With all our knowledge of psychology and sociology, Western governments still can't seem to figure out how to engineer policies that aren't suicidal and/or short-sighted.

The title say it. Would you want to live in a mono-ethnic society or rather in one with a foreign population on a low level or in a full scale multi-ethnic one? |

Mono-ethnic society with tolerance and knowledge of the other cultures,
Venèsia when it was the "Most Serene Republic of Venice" used to have commerce with all part of the world from Ancient China to England (Marco Polo), the people of the region know several languages, different food and cultures but there was almost no immigrants and our culture and identity was untouchable. About multiculturalism and multi-ethnic i dont like, look the USA in the south people celebrate the 5th may instead the 4th July. |

IMO, I think a multi-ethnic society shows more advantages if acceptance is a golden rule and if the whole process can cope (Switzerland anyone?
![]() On the other hand, mono-ethnic societies don't last long either as imilar ppl usually can't stand each other (SA, Cyprus, etc....) |

I'd for the most part chose the middle path cause I've grown up in such a society and am used to it. The important thing is that the natives mustn't ever be marginalised and that the host culture must be respected at all times.
I'm of the opinion that all children born in Germany whose parents also live here should automatically be given the German citicenship along with all people aroud the world who have at least 1 German parent. I'm basically against the giving of citicenship to immigrants that were born in another country(Europe is not America). Immigration should be very strictly controlled and criminal foreigners shall be sent back home. Atm there aren't many new immigrants coming to Germany which is good cause we allready have more than enough. All in all I think the situation in Germany is not as bad as in countries like Sweden, Switzerland and especially France where the natives aren't respected as such and form a marginalised, unaccepted minority-majority in their own country. A totally monoethnic/monocultural society on the other hand seems anacronistic and ridiculous at these times. |

I don't care about the ethnic make up per se but everyone should adhere to the majority cultural (all immigrants should be absorbed within a generation). |
