UK, the concept of race there looks to be very shaped between people's mindset. |

Poland of course. ---------- Post added 2010-08-31 at 01:41 ---------- Considering it's one of the most multicultural countries in Europe, I highly doubt there is a deep set racism there. Prehaps discontent over liberal immigration policies. Hell, most English people can't decide whether they're British or English - hardly a deep set concept of race. Also, the UK has the highest rate of inter-racial marriage in Europe. ![]() ![]() |

What do you mean by racism, exactly? Is it a deep-rooted belief in your people's intrinsic superiority or is it hostile actions and attitudes towards those of other races? Certain countries in NW Europe would be very racist according to the first definition and not racist at all going by the second criterium.

According to the dictionary: "Racism is the belief that the genetic factors which constitute race are a primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race" "Racism: The desire to live, work, marry and mingle with one's own kind: A nearly-universal desire and virtual law of nature, often expressed as 'Birds of a feather flock together', and denied only by liberals who live and work in areas much too expensive to have any more than a token number of minorities. Racism is so ingrained and universal that it is reflected not once but twice in our language: The word kind (type) and kind (nice) have the same origin, as does the word like (similar) and like (appreciate), from which we infer that we like those whom we are like, and we are kind to those of our own kind. "--- John Bryant Considering it's one of the most multicultural countries in Europe, I highly doubt there is a deep set racism there. Prehaps discontent over liberal immigration policies. Hell, most English people can't decide whether they're British or English - hardly a deep set concept of race. |

It's the definition of Merriam Webster Dictionary. Of course everybody uses the words differently.
Anyway, that definition also says you're racist if, for example, you say: "All mestizos are stupid" "all asians are smart" "all whites are pussy", since it says "the belief that the genetic factors which constitute race are a primary determinant of human traits and capacities " |

Racism is about supremacism of one race over another with a collective mindset. Incidents of nativism or xenophobism in some Eastern European nations - has nothing to do with racism at all. |

Interesting. So Russian skinheads who kill Asians because they are Asians and black South Africans who kill whites because they are whites are not racist simply because they do not necessarily believe in the superiority of their own group, but some Swedish pussy who secretly looks down on non-whites would be a racist. |

I found this other definition of another dictionary: "The prejudice that members of one race are intrinsically superior to members of other races". "a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others. " See ? the usually part shows that one doesn't have to believe in absolute superiority, unlike your quotes, to be a racist, so by that definition I am a racist. |
