i think weather is the least problem a country can have (unless it's stormy and windy all the time).

I think it sucks when you have to wear a jacket more than half of the year. Historically it's the most normal thing for a Germanic to want to gather some nice spot at the mediterrinean. I'm no weather patriot.

Anywhere in southern Europe, personally I'd prefer Italy.

Some people are confusing LIVING with VISITING in this thread.

It depends.

If someone has solved his financial issues and does not need to work,i would say he should establish a base in the Greek islands.

The Ionian is full of British...

Greece is not good if you would like to live in a big city though.
Athens is totally destructed due to bad policies after WWII and the Civil War.

Indeed. Southern Europe is good for holidays. People just don't experience corruption, low work ethic, chaos, anti-intellectualism, etc... as a tourist.

South Europe is the best for living if you have a good position
Nobody wants to live with 5 hours of sun per day

Aside from my homeland, Norway, I'd say the other Nordic countries and Switzerland.

it depends, I would say:

highest standard of living for rich people: around the Mediterranean Sea

highest standard of living for poor people: probably Scandinavia

highest standard of living for middle class people: err, probably Alpine region (Northern Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Central France, Southern Germany)
