all of these are HAPA. I'll choose a HAPA after a pure Asian. I grew up hearing the joke; what do you get when you crossbreed an Asian and a white person? you get a Mexican.

Who is this? Is this some random person? She stood out to me for some reason ---------- Post added 2012-03-29 at 21:39 ---------- Also, I forgot to highlight that the only half Asians considered hapas are those who are half Far Eastern. Half Pacific Islanders are also included as hapas, though. Any touch of Asian in your blood, you are a HAPA. |

Alexandra Bounxouei- Sao Lao Bao Thai she reminds me of Vanessa Hudgen. lol ---------- Post added 2012-03-29 at 22:10 ---------- I was reading up on the etymology of hapa, and it originally meant half Native Hawaiian. Today, it has extended to mean half Pacific Islander or Far Eastern. If it didn't only mean half, then there wouldn't be words like quapa as well. Also, there has to be a cutoff point. For example, I think it would be silly to refer a person who is 1/16 Vietnamese and 15/16 Euro as mixed-race or part Asian. I'm part Mongolian, Han Chinese, Tibetan, Austro-Asiatic(Mon-Khmer/Vietnamese), Austronesian..... Hey, I could be biracial too!! Part East Asian and part Austronesian. |

I read up on this a while ago. Hapa was an original Hawaiian word for half-breed. Quapa is some made up crap. Not to mention it sounds like Quapaw which was an actual Native tribe in Arkansas. Anyway I can understand people using Hapa, especially in Hawaii where it is from the native language, but why invent silly terms like quapa? I can be a quarter-breed, Eurasian, Amerasian, off-white, mixed-race, Anglo-Jap, etc. I don't need new invented silly words.
