Default What do you consider an "interracial" relationship?
Opinions?

A relationship with someone from another town.

Being serious, I'd say being with anyone who isn't from Europe (or of European descent) would be an interracial relationship for me.

How people from other places choose to define race is up to them, there are loads of people who reject the concept of race altogether.

Something like this Dominican/Afram relationship. A Latino woman dating a Black man

Someone of a different race

African/Asian
European/Asian
MENA/European (And don't come with this "Caucasoid" bullshit)
etc...

Interracial dating most of the times is for someone of different race, but it can also mean different cultures/religion like (Christian/Muslim)

But that's my opinion.

I don't know, I never considered the Turk to be a different race even though he was fairly brown. I'd say white, black, Latin, native, etc.

What about people with two very different religious beliefs? I've always wondered about that.

Yeah but in terms of blood and [probably] cultural attitudes I'd have more in common with a White American who was of predom. English ancestry with some Native blood than I would with a Spanish-American or an Irish-American. For a start the Anglo would be Protestant, the latter two would be Catholic.

Doesn't native blood sort of 'get a pass' in terms of American Whiteness?

Is 1/16th or 1/32nd red Indian blood enough to exclude someone from being White?

People of two different religion sometimes cause more problems than an interracial relationship. Imagine if you're a christian woman with a muslim husband...

Yeah but the word "interracial" isn't always used how it's supposed to, it usually just means people who are a lot different from each other.

they don't look like an interracial couple so I wouldn't consider them to be in an interracial relationship even if I knew they were Latina+Afram but I would consider them to be an "interethnical" couple

True... hm... I really don't know what "white" is anymore

that would be "interethnical" and more so If the MENA is almost pure caucasoid and don't look exotic from an European/American point of view,it's like saying a Somali-Congolese couple is interracial just because they belong to different subraces and Somalis may have some extra-negroid ancestry and look a bit different

It's considered a "interracial" relationship in the US Latinos even with Afro ancestry are seen as a different race from African Americans.

And this is a 100% Black couple.

Yeah but that's ignorance and I'm against that an Afram and an Afro-latino with somewhat the same % of black ancestry as the average Afram aren't from different races they're just from different sub-ethnicities from even the same ethnicities(white+west african black) and that makes them more like interethnical/intercultural

But most people consider that an interracial dating. Less than 1% of world's population knows Europeans,MENA and Indians are from the same race.

basically any substantial admixture from another race. So a European and a Caucasian Indian let's say would not be Interracial. A European and a heavily Australoid Indian would be race-mixing. A Chinese marrying a half Chinese/French would be race mixing. At a certain point it get's into a very gray area.

For me Afram and Afro Latino is the same thing when it comes to mating. Ask any Latin American here of vastly euro descent.....

My assessment would be based on an amateur eye: interracial= visibly different. Black with white, asian with black, arabic with black etc. Its more diificult with mulattos or metizos, I would say the look and dominant factor decides.

ps plus, a Romanian man with a Russian woman, perceived as inter-racial by some people.

I usually tend to think of interracial as Caucasoid/Mongoloid, Mongoloid/Negroid, etc. But, I can see why someone would make a case for say a Paki dating a Euro as interracial.
