They weren't like this initially, but they lost their way after the Soviet bloc got obliterated on 89'.
Then they are a terrorist gorup and not nationalist, so they shoudl stop claiming bieng soemthing they aren't anymore as they aren't fooling anyone.

But I think that has nothing to do with the acutal poverty there, as Colombiasn don't use gold but money to buy food and clothes.

Yep. After the hits they have received under the Uribe administration, they have sort of become a band of highwaymen, barely surviving on account of their share on the drug trade and the security services they pay to the drug barons.

To me it's humor.
Then I would label you as racist as you know there is a subtle racism but you don't want to see it, or just label you as a troll.

A waste of people if you tell me.

The gold can be sold to make money but the poverty is due to the abandonment by the Colombian gvt of the region for being Colombia's Blackest region .

It doesn't help things the fact that the landlords of the area have received governmental sanction on the land expropiations they have made against the campesinos there.

Another Black stereotype from a Colombian newspaper, and this is from a newspaper from this year. If any of yall go to Cali and Cartagena one day yall will see how many Black women can only find employment selling fruit on the street and cleaning houses. Cali has so much Black ppl and all the banks I went to, I didn't see any Black ppl working in them!

This is sad to know.

Truly I didn't expect this from Colombia, honestly.

Racism in Buenaventura, Colombia

Buenaventura is a Black city in the Pacific coast, 2-3 hrs away from Cali and now you have Colombian companies setting base there as this is Colombia's largest port and they don't even hire the local Black ppl.

I'm not that terribly surprised, after hearing the way in which some of them talk about NA peoples, I imagined that Afrodescendants wouldn't get a better treatment.

Because you already had experiences like that with them, I haven't, and I have heard only the contrary.

It is true what the young guy said in the Cali racism video about most Black men are construction workers. I saw that when I went to Cali!

---------- Post added 2011-07-08 at 17:03 ----------

On this video
a user stated something very interesting "Jim Crow and Apartheid in Colombia"
but rare the Colombian who will make that comparison!

---------- Post added 2011-07-08 at 17:11 ----------

Aight Aight yall let's take to this to the Caribbean coast of Colombia...let's take it to another predominantly Black/SSA mixed city Cartagena:

Latin American culture is very diferent from the Anglo American one. Here, people tend to mock everything while in the US humor is way more PC, I understand people may have aversion to painted faces in the US due to their racist background, but why should we be judged by the anglo american standards? Comedians don't disguise as blacks because blacks are not allowed to act or be on the TV (like it happened in the US) they just do it for the lulz.
