When I was in the UK, interracial relationships were nothing out of the ordinary. Probally like the majority of Black men I saw in England was with a white woman, and a huge number of Black women were with White men. How come interracial relationships are not as common in the US as it is across the Atlantic?
Here some info on interracial relationships in the UK The study also shows that some ethnic groups are more likely to be in interracial relationships. Going by the figures provided by the study, 48% of Black Caribbean men and 34 per cent of Black Caribbean women are in interracial relationships in contrast to those of Pakistani backgrounds (8% men and 6% women). But looking at this chart, interracial relationships are not as common in the US. http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2...ce.html?ref=us |

The UK is a lot more relaxed. The focus is on individualism and seeing people as a personality whilst celebrating and sharing our differences.
This is what we learn at most state schools. Therefore when we get older we don't see people as "black" or "white" everyone is a Brit. At least thats my view on things. |
