When will the US surrender to the metric system dismissing their inferior Inch/Foot system? UK is already on its way to do it so what are les americains still waiting for?

Never. It's just the truth. We've gone as far as we're going to go. Liter bottles of soda is about it. There is no pressure of any kind to go any further.

The cm/m system surely is superior when it's about measuring a person's height.

I wish the USA would just go ahead and convert, since we already have to learn/know the metric system in school.

you have to learn the metric system to become a nurse, even in America. Dear god, why can't we just do science and math with calculators? why do we still have to go through this torture and learn it?

You pretty much have to use metric in any kind of science. It's the single unit that makes it much easier. All the formulas are based on the metric system.

There are certian measurements where the inch is still used, such as water pipes, where the inch is used even in Europe. Also, in woodwork inches are still used.

The problem with a total conversion is the tooling equipment, which is based on inches. I's actualy very expensive to go from imperial to metric, unless some exceptions are made.
