Default American vs European (sports atmosphere/sports culture)
Which do you enjoy more? are you more politically correct and enjoy just watching the game? Do you think chanting is annoying? Would you rather just watch the game quietly and go home?

Or...are you someone that can enjoy humor in many ways, love supporting your team and watching/getting in fights like soccer hooligans, etc?

I love the atmosphere of European pro sports stadiums and the fans. They're so politically incorrect and it makes it all that more fun and enjoyable. Controversy is a + for me in sports haha. For example all the controversies during the world cup. American pro sports stadiums atmosphere is pretty boring, most of the fans are lame...except in the big rivalries like Yankees/Red Sox. Ever since I watched Eurotrip It got me into watching fights between soccer fans and it made me realize American sports are too organized and proper, not as lively.

I only watch soccer now, since the 2006 world cup I've realized watching an American sport game (basketball, football) for 5 minutes then taking a commercial break for 2 minutes, repeating over and over sucks compared to the non-stop action (without commercials) soccer has. Also it's a prettier sport, its funner to watch.

Edit: fuck..forgot to add a poll.

I agree with you about commercial breaks, I can't watch very tactical sports such as football or baseball (they seem to be aethernal)

However, soccer atmosphere varies a lot depending on the place. If you go to Real Madrid stadium -Santiago Bernabeu- you get the impression you are in the theater. Only a few radicals sing and support during the whole game.

How fun is it to follow top European football? You already know which two - five teams are going to be in the battle. Many American sports don't have those dynasties anymore.

Serie A, La Liga, Premier League...it is always the same teams among the winners and runners-up. Check the last ten seasons in respective league. The amount of Stanley Cup champions these last ten seasons have had eight winners (Detroit have won two and New Jersey two), and 13 of the 30 teams have played a Stanley Cup final the last ten seasons, that is almost half the teams in the entire league. Same in the NFL, almost half the teams in the league have played in the Super Bowl since Super Bowl XXXIV and eight champions. MLB shows similar stats (nine champions, 15 world series teams). The NBA resembles the big Euro leagues with dynasties.

I love watching hockey and real football. Other than that it is just meh. I went to a game between the Blue Jays and Texas in the Roger Center in Canada and woah, people were so boring: no alcohol allowed, everybody on their seats, barely saying anything the whole match.

Baseball matches in Venezuela are just wild and dangerous and full of shit flying around, people hating on Chavez with big-ass signs, drunk people from left to right.

Well said, Azva. Go Devils.

But, I too am a calcio/football/futbol/soccer fan. It's just a different culture.

Sadly, hooliganry and politically incorrect behaviour is strongly frowned upon. A team can actually be severely punished if their fans are too rowdy.

Soccer/football has been my sport since the 2010 world cup. I love the atmosphere of European sports.

Just basketball. I don't care for the fans that much, but other sports seem non-interesting for me for various reasons. Hockey is one sport that I find interesting, but since I was not earlier into it, and I don't know the exact rules I don't watch it.

The only two sports events that I still find to be worth watching any more are the Summer Olympics and the Football World Cup. Thats about 3 or 4 weeks of fun every two years.

I don't really watch soccer much. I only really watch the big tournaments like the world cup. There are games on ESPN (the only sports network I have) but most of the time I dont know whos playing. I still watch the games though, it's great. I want to pick a favorite team but don't want to seem like a band wagoner.

There are a lot of mexican channels that show shitty teams playing each other, but I can't get into it. Also, MLS is on TV a lot but I can't bring myself to watch it without falling asleep. When I'm watching the world cup I'm always into it.

I like hockey but i'm more of a player-follower than a fan of a team too. Guess what got me into it... the winter olympics last year haha. USA did pretty well.

^ This is why I care very little about soccer world cup/euro: on such occasions I feel as if my secret trattoria had become a tacky restaurant for tourists. Even in Italy people who usually don't give a damn about it and think Atalanta is the name of a city magically turn into lifelong know-it-all football fans...

It's a good time to watch the NBA, and this is actually one of the best year and generation of basketball players. There are a handful of teams that could take each other on for the top spot in either western conference or eastern conference. In recent months, top teams did some trading inorder to maximize their chance of winning the games. By doing so, the quality of the games have jump considerably. Some of the average teams are worth watching also.

The fans' reaction are apparent in the 4th quarter especially during the final few minutes of a close match. Slam dunks will raise a few eyebrows.

World Cup especially and at time I do watch some of the international matches. I prefer Euro Clubs, but I do watch a few MLS games.

Bullcrap.

Shahtjor passed this year, they kicked Roma's ass, Totenham beat Milan we definitely see new tteams coming.

plus what is wrong with dynasties, it is all cool, if other teams wanna go further they should learn how to play football in Champion's League.

Did u see the match last night ???

Manchester City vs Dinamo Kiev??? I bet you didn't everyone expected Man C to win but that didn't really happen.

Football is really cool to watch like in Spain and England or Germany.

Have you seen Borusia Dortmund's fans???? the atmosphere ????

European for sure, there is so much superficial brovado around American sports...

Europe for passion and tradition.

I like hockey, which is popular in both USA and Europe (and Canada, of course).

But, Canadian hockey fans are the most passionate, I'd say they're on the level of European soccer fans (love soccer too, I wish Canada had a better team).
