Default Canadian arrested for making Hitler salute in front of Reichstag
A Canadian man was arrested in Berlin on Saturday for making the Hitler salute in front of the Reichstag.

The 30-year-old from Quebec was with a German friend when he posed in front of the parliamentary building and made the salute, according to daily Der Tagesspiegel on Sunday.

The German friend, a 29-year-old from the state of Lower Saxony, photographed him in the pose.

Making the salute is illegal in Germany – a fact widely known in Germany but often unknown abroad.

An investigation will now be undertaken against the Canadian for using an illegal symbolic gesture.

Berlin police officers confiscated the camera chip, but the man was released after posting bail.

Good thing he didn't cross the Polish frontier. I find this humourous. And this is a good example of why comedy doesn't translate well.

But ignorance of the law is an excuse to a certain extent.

Depends on the context in Germany.

A pro wrestler gave a Hitler salute during a show, and goose stepped around the ring. He wasn't prosecuted because of the context of him being an entertainer attempting to get a rise out of the hostile audience.

Heh, maybe Bill Goldberg could get away with that. But seriously, thats quite funny news, shouldn't be of any drama, not worthy of making headlines.

Well, that's ridiculous, it comes down to people not wanting to offend Jews as usual.
