Yes and no.

Microsoft-based PC's are and will always continue to dominate over Apple as far as desktop and laptop operating systems go, and when you look at Bing, Microsoft Office, and the Xbox, Microsoft is still a force to be reckoned with, even if their dominance is less now than it had been ten years ago with Apple's resurgence and the rise of Firefox.

The real question is what influence Bill Gates still has over Microsoft. If it is a high level, when you add that to his philanthropy and his personal wealth, he's considerably more powerful than Jobs. If not, then his days of being more powerful than most countries are behind him.

i would agree with you generally but lately apple has been upping thier game lately with the release of all these products like the iphone, ipod etc but yes it is true that in our everyday life we consitently use microsoft products(i dont know what i would do without my xbox lol) but i use products of both companys extensively but i think steve jobs will take the postition of being more powerful than gates pretty soon because lately alot of microsoft software product has had major issues.. especially the vista

7 is considerably better than Vista, and the iPhone's dominance has yet to happen yet. More people own BlackBerrys and Android-based phones, globally... and Microsoft is making a strong attempt at rebooting Windows Mobile.

I had a Windows Mobile phone a few years ago and it was alright, but I'm more than happy with my unlocked+jailbroken iPhone.

That list is rubbish. Bureaucratic positions don't really measure power. Forbes list of the richest in the world is more important when it comes to assess real power.

Political power > economic power
