So the 2 swedes,or whatever, are having a hard life there because of ethnic discrimination ,interesting, especially since that bank country is supposed to be multi-ethnic but people have such behavior. Swiss people historically (and still today) act as if their Canton is their nation and they don't move away from it. When they do they never change their dialect much, unless they move to a completely different language region, which they rarely ever do. Most Swiss ARE NOT multi-lingual or bi-lingual, a minority are. The only time most Swiss see most of the country is when the men go into the military and are based in different Cantons for training. My fiancee's brother just got back from near Geneve, but he speaks almost no French. ![]() Swiss "tolerance" is basically. Mind your own business, don't interfer in what happens in my Canton, and I won't interfer in yours. Keep the federal government week (only meets a few times a year) and keep the power local, so I can vote on how I want to live in my place with MY PEOPLE. If you do that, we can get a long. That's not tolerance as we understand it in most modern Western nations. The problems is foreigners don't tend to fit into this paradigm. A foreigner has not Canton or origin, and people don't know how to integrate them locally...in the German areas, if you can speak fluent German, but you can't speak their dialect (most foreigners cannot and never learn to) you will ALWAYS stand out, and Swiss will ALWAYS treat you as a foreigner. And most will never be comfortable around you because you can't speak their dialect. The French speaking area is better, I think because their French dialects are almost dead, and so learning what little dialects they have is not that hard. People can integrate more, culture seems more open. I mean think about it, if they have issues with Germans, they will definately have issues with a Scandanavian, and if they have issues with them, they will have issues with a Turk, an African, etc. ---------- Post added 2010-11-05 at 13:17 ---------- That woman really is Yugoslavian and not Swedish?? |

There must be a reason why this woman stayed in Switzerland for three years with her boyfriend, I'd say normally people wouldn't just stay like that without a job. What do they live off?
Maybe she's a second gen. immigrant in Sweden, and left for Switzerland for some reason? Dunno, but it seems a bit strange. Jack, in Europe we have a tribalistic resentment towards some of our neighbours for historical reasons. It is true that there's a great deal of tribalism in Europe. Just think of Hitler, all he did was exploit, and even create some German tribalism. I don't know anything about Switzerland - but tribalism in general can also exist within countries, like here, there's also a sort of tribalism, with a strong distinction between the western and eastern parts of the country. Unlike this forum, it's not based on anything biological! People aren't really "racially aware", but they know who's US and who's THEM. |

Homosexuals and Communist are a race? Crimes against or directed towards gays are called hate crimes here. The word race and racist is trown around like a damn wolleyball here by the stupid ignornant majority though. Most people in Sweden think (My pretty strong opinion) that race equals only colour. Anyone with a slightly different appearence or just come from another part of Europe is a different race. That's why many of us who has opinions about immegration get lynched and called racist when we open our mouths. This to me only show ignorance and it bugs me that so many of this well functioning nations are so god damn stupid about mostly everything else than working like a ant. Seriously, the lower middle class like me. Who spend most of my pay every month can't go anywhere here either. (Class wise.) So it's the same in Sweden, foreigners have a harder time to get work. Would be fucked if it would be the other way around don't you think? |
