Brothers convicted for violence against their little sister Two Bosnian brothers have been convicted for violence and threats against their own sister. Østre Landsret [the court] chose to increase the sentence that they had already received. Originally they had got 60 days in prison but the appeal doubled that time. Both have been sentenced for slapping the girl in the head. And for using violence and threats to try to control the sister’s life, the court states in the verdict. The 20-year-old girl explained to the court that her brothers acted as the rulers of the family. They did not like her Danish boyfriend and made strict rules about her whereabouts. According to the woman the brothers threatened to kill her if she did not break up her relationship, and she told the police that she feared being sent home to her mother’s sister in Montenegro. In the end she chose to run away. The two brothers have pleaded not guilty to committing violence. They have admitted that they thought her boyfriend was a little too young but as they said “they were only trying to protect their little sister”. In court they stated that “while they are Muslims, they are not fundamentalists”. When the court of law handed down its decision the judge made it clear that he did not see the case as a question of “honor”, but only as what he called “an outdated perception, by Danish standards, that does not take into account the equality among sexes which is normal standard in Danish society”. http://jp.dk/indland/krimi/article1745283.ece http://gatesofvienna.blogspot.com/20...om-bosnia.html I'm a bit surprised, since I've been told by Bosnians that this kind of "honor culture" doesn't exist in their culture. ![]() ---------- Post added 2010-10-18 at 16:33 ---------- I also wonder if the reason for them not wanting her to having a danish boyfriend is ethnical or religious. Is it the fact that he is non-Bosnian or that he isn't a muslim. I would certainly not allow my sister or daughter to have a muslim boyfriend, but that is mostly because of cultural and religious reasons. |

I didn't know bosnians could be as fanatic as arabs and kurds. So to me, a Bosnian and a Dane is more similar than a Kurd and a Dane. Get it?
Btw I read last year about a family in Sweden who beat their daughter and cut her a little with knife because she was pregnant with an Arab. The article did not tell if the family was swedish or if they were assyrians or something. |

What do Bosnians have to do with Arabs and Danes, Bosnians are Bosnians, and such type of behavior is present all over the world, sometimes it is more present in more educated people and high class people than it is amongst the low class people. |
