Who gives a damn about the Imam... all we're discussing is the right to build the Islamic Community/ Center/Mosque. And they have every right to do so.
Learn to read. Nobody, including myself, disputes that. The anti-Mosque people are just saying that it shouldn't be built, not that it should be against the law to do so.

Friends, we all have a responsibility NOW to make sure that Muslim community center gets built. Er, I have no such responsibility. The whole letter is typical Michael Moore aggrandizing, but portraying it like this is something vital to our nation is ridiculous.

Well i don't think the Qurans should be burned personally because it's disrespectful, but of course he should have the freedom to do as he pleases, I just don't think it's a good idea. The Mosque on the other hand isn't a religious offensive, it's a place of worship, not comparable to terrorism or burning religious texts that are not even suppose to be placed on the floor according to adherents of the Islamic faith.

The word "Muslim" is not synonymous with terrorist, at-least not yet, the reaction of people to the building is almost shocking to me, but I've heard worse. I think it's good for us to build a Mosque in the vicinity atleast, sends a message to Muslims, around the world, and I'd hope to the extremists maniacs that America is a Muslim friendly country. I consider the outrage over this mosque to be mostly the result of ignorance. Where I live there was a protest to not build a Mosque (which was offering most of the same community benefits as a Church) on a former Church. In a public debate i was shocked to see how many ignorant Americans lived in my city, Americans who seemed to never know what Islam was until a group of Muslim extremists attacked World Trade. For anyone who is against the building of the mosque, I curious what exactly your issue is with it? is it because the terrorists were Muslim? So now should we treat every Christian, and every Muslim and Hindu like an extremists because some nut-bags committed murder in the names of these murders. Should the Jews make Churches Illegal in israel? Should we remove the statue of the Prophet Muhammad from our state (national)Supreme Court. My feeling is, if anything, as Americans, our first and most important attack on the terrorists should be to stick to our proclaimed values.

Interesting as no one apparently predicted it, just like the way the Cold War ended was not foreseen, people could not predict that the US would be caught in this "war" that Norman Podhoretz has called World War IV: the war against "Islamofascism" (as described by Norman Podhoretz). I wonder what chain of events put the US fighting against Islam, and vice versa.

Oh wait... think I see a spec of dust in that kid's eye. Guess it belongs to the "American People" now.

The muslims here are Americans too. They have every right to build where they build. They bought the land fair in square, it wasn't stolen. Not to mention the fact that it's in a decent area... what, should they have built it in Harlem, Queens, the Bronx???[COLOR="Silver"]
Being American means nothing then, its just a country for hire, a stepping stone to attain wealth

I wish someone would tell those Hasidic Jews in Brooklyn and Queens that they are being close minded in not letting others join their religion, but that would be bigoted of me, just like I'm being bigoted in respecting the sensibilities of Americans who feel that their culture is being infringed upon

Lol... I fail to see your point. You can't put religious groups and nationalities on the same level. There are American Muslims, Christians, Jews, etc... all of which have requirements in place, in order for individuals to attain membership in those organizations.

And what exactly is your definition of being American? Who can or cannot be American? Are minorities allowed? Should slavery still exist? Should we all be Protestant? Should we slay atheists, blacks, scientists, Native Indians, Catholics and witches???

I think we should protest differently.

Every time Western people see a woman in a heard scarf or any Islamic covering we should do this:

Then take them to a reeducation camp and make them watch 72 hours of Baywatch straight.
