In an outlandish racist rant, Floyd Mayweather Jr. has labelled Filipino boxer Manny Pacquai a 'Yellow' chump and a midget - that whilst being a staggering 4 centimetres taller!
I just found it a little disturbing that an Afro-American - those who have been subject to the worst racism in history - has the gall to label someone else via a derogatory racial slur. The funniest thing is, he's not even yellow, but resembles his namesakes, Pakis. What are your views on this - or more potently, an afro-american being racist to another race other than white, in what is an unprovoked assault ?. |

Are you kidding me? Afro-Americans can be some of the worst racists, especially towards Asians. I had a friend watch a Black kid drop kick an old Chinese woman once and then poor his drink on her. Why? Because she was telling him to stop loitering in front of her store. Personal experiences don't mean much but even in rap music you can hear the anatgonism towards Asians. Our very own Bass has ranted against them because they open successful businesses in Black neighborhoods.

Plus, isn't it racist to assume that only certain races can be racist and not others? Don't be a conceited hypocrite. And finally, do modern whites deserve racism from blacks, what for? What about Arabs and Middle Easterners in general? They have done more to Africans than any Europeans in recent and ancient history. |

Here is a link to the video of his rant:
http://www.lowkick.com/Other/Floyd-M...cist-rant-9801 Mayweather even said he would force Pacquiao to make him a roll of sushi after beating him. I guess he should go ahead and kiss his major sponsors goodbye. Ultimately, this won't effect him very much. He will still get paid a ridiculous amount of money to box regardless of what he says. He may lose sponsorships and a few fans, but I doubt he will be deeply regretting his comments anytime soon. Racist comments have not really been uncommon in boxing, anyways. |

He's also a supposedly practising christian, way to treat a brother.
My thoughts go along the same lines as the above poster. It's the result of a social chain, I suppose. |

He's also a supposedly practising christian, way to treat a brother. Seriously, Muslims/Arabs don't have the moral high ground on anything-such a brutal and horrible history. False But Europeans were/are still worse eh? |

It's nothing surprising; it's boxing. Trash-talking has been a part of it for a while now. Mike Tyson certainly said worse things with or without bringing up race.
EDIT: Apparently he's apologized, saying he's not racist and was just having fun. http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/spor...ideo-rant.html |

But the real question is...is he apologizing because he was really sorry he said it? Or was he just apologizing after protests began to rise against him?
See, these racist rants, no matter who it came from, and despite them apologizing after they said it...I still think they meant every single word the time they said it. If they didn't want to "offend" anybody, then they shouldn't have said anything racist in the first place... filmed it... and put it in YouTube. Would have saved them a lot of time. Ours too. |

For some reason it is ok for black people to talk like that. But if someone said the same about a black person then it would mean prison.
---------- Post added 2010-09-05 at 18:53 ---------- And the sushi insult is just too stupid it is like calling an italian dude fucking hamburger. Why didnd he say lumpia instead? that would make more sense. |

Maybe it's a misunderstanding of Yellow? Maybe he meant coward? Yellow doesn't have mean anything racial, but interestingly, you hear what you want to hear.
Boxers always trash talk, it's like wrestling - a part of the game. How can you take a sport like that seriously anyway, when it's based on individual match-ups? There are no "Best" boxers, there are boxers that can get fights. It's just so different from other sports, so ... corrupt. |

On December 7, 2007, Hopkins and Calzaghe met face to face in the media room set up for the Floyd Mayweather, Jr.vs.Ricky Hatton fight. Hopkins and Calzaghe began shouting insults and taunting each other, with Hopkins shouting, "You're not even in my league! I would never let a white boy beat me. I would never lose to a white boy. I couldn't go back to the projects if I let a white boy beat me."[3] Hopkins would later explain his comments, saying that it was not meant to be taken as a racial slur or a reflection of his feelings on white fighters, but simply said to create some hype for his fight with Calzaghe.[4] Bernard Hopkins vs. Joe Calzaghe
