Default Countries or Ethnic groups you feel connected to?
Which country/countries or ethnic group(s) do you feel (strongly) connected to? Other than your own of course.

By identity, it is primarily other Scandinavians (Norwegians, Icelanders and Danes). Finns and Germans due to my genetical, historical and ancestral ties to them.

Germanic people mostly (particulary Scandinavians, Dutch and Germans), then other european people, then south europeans, then no one.

I feel more related to Americans than to Russians and French, despite distance.

Feeling connected to a group does not necessarly mean to like the group though.

From a family perspective, I feel related to Japan, because I had direct influence from my Japanese grandmother when I was growing up. So I grew up on calpis, azuki bean cakes, tonkatsu etc. in addition to the usual coca cola, pop tarts, and hamburgers etc. There were a lot of Japanese items around the house that you don't find in American houses, like dolls in doll houses, and a rice cooker for example... most Americans don't have a dedicated rice cooker in the kitchen. My grandma would also watch Japanese soap operas a lot.

Genetically, I feel related to the Caucasus and Central Asia, because that's where my uni-parental markers trace back to. Also this region is where I have autosomal similarities with people, purely by coincidence I suppose.

Geographically, I feel related to Canadians and Mexicans, because they're my neighbors. This extends to a lesser degree into Central and South America and the Caribbean.

Ironically, when it comes to politics, I feel most closely related to the historical enemies of the USA, like Russia and China. It isn't that I agree with their domestic policies, as much as having respect for them as world military powers in international relations, and expecting the same in return. These aren't the countries who normally come crying for help with some military alliance, or lecture from some supposed moral high ground. They handle their business, and don't want you meddling in it. Sitting across the negotiating table from them is a chess match or a poker game, not a group hug or a circle jerk.

I coukd include Venezuela and Caostal Colombia on the continental nations, but no more culturally speaking, t other Latino nations we aren't that connected.
I can say PR are more related to venezuela and Coastal Colombia than to the other caribbean island(DR and Cuba)

So, since I can't say Euro-Americans, here are the ethnic groups/countries I always feel connected too:

Romanians
Croatians
Swedes - First 3 groups are pretty obvious.
Turks/Turkey - I've always liked the country, and I normally get along with Turks on these forums and real life. Turkish girls are hot too.
Levantines - Same reasons as Turkey.

I'll update if there are more I think of.

I relate to most of Latin america, England, Ireland, Spain and Japan.

of course I am obsessed with certain regions like Estonia, but I don't think I relate to them at all, it's more of an interest.

I think I could move to Germany, or anywhere in the UK, and feel right at home. I also spent time in Turkey and love the people and culture, (in fact I thought I was going to spend my adulthood there at one point). Also Australia, I get the feeling they are very much like Floridians. lol

I feel connected to most all black people especially Nigerians and Jamaicans. My mother was friends with this Nigerian family so we would often go to their home whenever they had parties and celebrations, in which I was exposed to many traditional African dishes.
