Default Army celebrates Independence Day in Kashmir
The 66th Independence Day was celebrated with exceptional fervor in Kashmir. At Baramulla General Officer Commanding, Dagger Division and Cdr 19 Artillery Brigade celebrated the day. The Jawans of Rashtriya Rifles Battalion performed an enthralling Bhangra performance as part of the cultural show. On behalf of Army, Dagger Division presented gift hampers to different student groups who had performed in the event.

Flag hoisting ceremonies were organised in all Company Operating Bases and the Jawans shared the festivities with their civilian brethren who came in large numbers to join in the festivities. Dagger Artillery Brigade Commander accompanied by Commanding Officer, 46 Rashtriya Rifles Battalion visited Noorbagh, Venkari and Bagh-e-Islam Company Operating Bases and performed the Flag Hoisting Ceremony in presence of local elders and young students.

VICTOR FORCE held Flag hoisting ceremony at various locations which were attended by scores of school children, youth, elders and important dignitaries and civil administration of the respective areas. Distt HQs in the Victor Force area of responsibility which was attended by a number of officers and JCOs/OR from all units besides Civil Administration officials. Sect HQ and Units sponsored number of prizes to children who participated in various activities during the celebrations.

TMG Bde celebrated the day at AGS Naugam from 1100 hrs to 1200 hrs. Approx 350 school children, their parents, village elders including sarpanchs and army personnel joined the celebration. Which commenced with hoisting of the National Flag by the Chief Guest Brig JS Makol, Cdr TMG Bde, which was followed by singing of national anthem. The school children put up a cultural show of a very high standard depicting national integration and patriotism.

At Army Goodwill School, Boniyar, the National tricolour was hoisted by Commander. Pir Panjal Brigade and National Anthem was sung by everybody present in the gathering in unisom. Many civil and military dignitaries attended the Independence Day celebration, besides parents of the students and the locals.

A Medical Camp was conducted on 15 Aug 2012 at village Baraub in Tilel Valley under the aegis of HQ 109 Inf Bde. The medical camp generated enormous response from all the villages in Tilel Valley and the Transient population of Bakarwals and Gujjars. A total of 170 patients to incl 95 males, 45 females and 30 children were provided medical cover.
