My Thai friend and his wife have recently had an addition to their family, a baby boy

I hope to be visiting them very soon and would like to bring them gifts.

Usually, here, I would wait for the Christening or Baptism to offer a gift,
is there any such equivalent in Thailand?

I should point out that they are both Buddhist.

Does anyone have any suggestions for appropriate gifts for both Parents and the child.
