Default Tatas` in Thailand...
MY wife a school employee in Bkk.recently baught a 2000 Toyota Corola-I believe it is-for equivalent of about 7,000 U.S.$-which is about same price as in U.S. according to "Blue book" of used cars...And that is almost 3 times the price of the newest Indian car Tata-Nano, ..so I wonder how are these Indian cars received on Thai markets? and by Thai public?..Admittedly the design has lot left to be desired, but if the economy and performance is good...? why not?..you can buy 5 new tatas for one new Toyota, or Honda ...

I would advise you wait and see.
Thai import duties have an amazing affect on prices.

Hmmmm....I am REALLY surprised...no one in Thailand likes these Indian cars?...or none of these cars are imported into Thailand?....If I had licence to drive, I would buy this car, just because of its low price....Oh well....never mind..

And what road crash tests have been run on it and it will pobly fold up like an old shoe box in a wreck,,trouble with a car like that is if you have a wreck, you are the first one there.

Its funny how your Thai wife (who's in Thailand) didn't update you that Tata-Nano is not available in Thailand yet. In fact, I don't think its available even in India yet.

Yes, it will not be the safest car on the road, I think. But then guess its not meant for the highways really but would meet most typical tests, if they do plan to export, which they are quite keen to. The thing is that unlike whats typically imagined the guys have a lot of money to do whatever - like it or not they have a big population 'financing' them in a way... and they now compete in a very fast moving market. And safety is one of the arguments competitors are pitching against them, besides the fact it would crowd the roads with so many people moving upto cars. So, they will eventually take care of these things to an extent.

I think it should in the second half sometime in September/October, as I remember mentioned. It was a huge draw in the Auto Expo in India recently. I was a bit of a victim holding an activity just 30 minutes before the Nano was going to be launced - very Brave of me! Tata vehicles typically are known for their teething problems. Its best to buy them 8-12 months after they launch. They eventually offer very high value for money and will iron out things. Not sure when its introduced in export markets though. Anyways, considering the rush among people it may well have a long lead period? No idea! Visit www . team-bhp. com / forum / . Its an Indian auto fans forum and the guys there are pretty informed I think, though I have not visited it more than a couple of times.
