I was referring to Lenss' question about what people use to straify the classes, and how people "decide" who is middle class and who is not.
ok... anyway, I think the "middle-class" mentioned here are those "yuppies" with executive jobs who hang around pubs during the weekends? This is my impression. I've worked with couple of middle-class yuppies with dark skin. They're cool.

But then again, often I hear those comments about "fair being beautiful" are from the local ladies themselves.. and often from the dark skin ones.. I frown upon that too but if thats what the locals say, think, do, who are we the foreigners to say whats right and wrong? We're no matter what, just guests in their country.

But is the same in Korea,China, Viet Nam and most asian countrys, not just in Thailand where the women want to be light skinned and deplore dark skin.

I don't remember how it was in Sgn. as I haven't been there in years and I was drunk every time we were there, but Bucky knows for sure..

Eh..... I'm sorry, I didn't read anyone mentioning anything about skin colour in this particular thread! The only colour I read was the colour of Johnny Walker Whiskey!
I was referring to Lenss' question about what people use to straify the classes, and how people "decide" who is middle class and who is not.
Don't shoot the messenger.

I think in Japan, there're these group of 109 ladies who tanned themselves on purpose? Seen like quite popular sometimes back.......
Ah yes, the "ganguros", or black faces.

What made them look really scary was the white lipstick and eyeshadow on top of their artificially darkened skin. What a sight!
