Walked to an ATM machine in north western thailand about a year ago. Two women were ahead of me. Noticed something strange about the woman directly in front of me. Had her hand over her shoulder and was holding a stack of bills at least 4 inches thick . Got closer and could see that these were all 1000 thai baht bills. Could only guess she had maybe a million baht in her right hand. Her friend in front of her was getting another 40,000 baht out of the atm machine....jeeze... During the 6 months in thailand I came back to that bank a few times. Each time I saw people withdrawing 800,000 thousand to 2 million baht, cash. Bank clerks showed no emotion giving the money to the customers...Who Casually placed the money in a paper bag or their purse. Thailand has changed...Seems these people who withdrew money had no fear...of robbers..
