Default U.S.-trained foot & ankle doc/surgeon interested to work in Thailand
When I'm finished with my surgical training in about 2-3 years, I am interested in working in Thailand as a foot & ankle doctor/surgeon. I can do it all, from fixing bunions and hammertoes to saving your leg. I was born in Bangkok, my mother is Thai, dad is American. I am an American citizen, moved to the U.S. when I was seven. Are there any foot & ankle specialists in Thailand, other than the Thai foot masseusses? Would I be the first podiatric physician/surgeon to attempt to practice in Thailand? I have no idea how much doctors and surgeons make in Thailand, but I'm thinking that to work in Thailand and make enough to be minimally comfortable (rent an apartment, drive a small cheap car, etc.) and begin to pay my loans, I would need about a $40k USD salary. Is this possible, or am I dreaming?
