I am currently in consideration about whether to accept a job offer that requires me to relocate to Bangkok for at least 1-2 years. The factors I'm concerned about are mainly living conditions, expenses and taxation. I'm wondering if anyone of you are currently going through or have have had similar experiences, and can give me some advice esp on some of my queries below:
- What is the standard rate for a decent accomodation at Sukhumvit area? My idea of decent is a studio or 1-bedroom, hopefully furnished with the basics like bed, desk, fridge, laundry, bathroom. Secondary preference to have TV, air con phone line for Internet etc. - On top of the rent, what are the approximate additional I may need to incur for utilities, phone and internet bills? Or any other miscellaneous that I may not have thought of? - What is the taxation rate system for an expat with work permit in Thailand?I heard it is not more than 10% if the pay does not exceed B50,000. How does it work if the pay is over 50,000? Does the employee has to bear all the tax or the employer bears some? Would appreciate to hear from anyone. I've been hearing different guidelines and I think it would be most helpful to get third opinions. Thanks in advance. ![]() |
