Farangs attract a lot more attention once you get away from the touristy areas. If you are in the countryside, where there are very few English-speaking people, you will draw stares no matter what. When I was at Sahatsakhan, a small village a few kilometers north of Kalasin, I drew stares everywhere I went and I was with my Thai fiancee (now my wife) and her family. Just learn to enjoy the attention. You will be considered quite an attraction in more remote areas

Default Are large families rare in thailand?
Large families are normal in Thailand. Don't worry about it. The only reason people might stare at you is that you're taller than everyone else. But they probably are used to it by now. There are a lot of foreigners traveling in and out of Thailand.

Being more of an agricultural country, large families are not a rare sight. You don't have to worry about anything unless you do have a family of size larger than Manchester United Team..

I do agree with Benosuki that the people there are relatively small built and foreigners do stand out in the crowd. Well, I take that as added advantage of not getting lost in CTC.
