The Gujarat government's statewide Attention on Grievances with Application
of Technology (SWAGAT) programme has won United Nations Public Service Award
(UNPSA). The SWAGAT initiative of the *state government has been awarded
second place in the category* 'Improving Transparency, Accountability and
Re sponsiveness in Public Service' by the United Nations Department of
Economic and Social Affairs which facilitates the search for innovations in
governance and public administration, an official statement said in
Ahmedabad on Wednesday.

*Some of the notable achievements of Gujarat Govt*:
1. 10 years back, Gujarat Govt had Rs,50,000 Crore debt with international
banks.
Today it has kept *Rs. 1 lakh Crore deposit* in the same bank!!
2. *Every village in Gujarat* gets enough electricity throughout the year.
3. Under "Kanya Kalamani" project, Gujarat has achieved *100% female
literacy*.
4. *World's biggest Solar Plant* is getting built in Gujarat.
5. Gujarat is *No.1 state* in majority of the fields.
6. Gujarat's economy is *growing at the rate of 12%*!!
7. In the last fiscal, Gujarat govt has *built 2.59 lakh houses for BPL
families* (it has identified 25 lakh BPL families and is working to get roof
for all of them)!
8. In 2003 *Ahemadabad *was considered as the most polluted city in the
world.
In 2009 the same city was announced as the *most clean city*!!
