I have an iPod Mini (4GB) and have no problems with it yet. However I did take out a 3 year warranty which I was told will cover battery replacements when it finally gives out.

The only improvements I can suggest is to forget the standard earphones that come with them and get something a bit better. I replaced the original ones with Sennheiser and enjoy the sound quality.

The iTrip is really handy because I tend to travel around the back blocks in a 4WD where there is hardly any radio reception. Just tune the Hilux's radio to 88.1 and switch on the iPod and it'll be blasting away for ages. All good.

I hate ipods too. My house is filled with them from accidentally clicking on "WIN A FREE IPOD" ads. They take up more space then those AOL cds. They don't sail through the air as well as the cds, but at least they hurt more when you chuck 'em.

I got a 20Gig iPod and love it. As for the Mac haters, well, grow up.

Get at least the mini...you'll appreciate having a display of which song is playing when you have a big inventory....

I prefer Creative products over Ipods. But if you are interested in having a fashion product more than a music player go for the Ipod, if you do, get a real Ipod, not the mini or the shuffle.

Don't know if there is an "international" version, but this is a bleeder of an mp3 site.

mm I owned a 40 gig before, but I sold it after a week... well I didn't like it and I ABSOLUTELY HATE APPLE PRODUCTS!!! I hate them more after I tried out the iPods. It's just me, I'm a PC person... If I buy a mp3 player again, I'll probably look into different ones, I'll even go with iRiver products...
Why do you hate the ipod?

Piggy, dont worry i'll just carry around my bokken

Sparc I dont think i'll use the standart earphones either, i dont like that version.
At least with a set of black headphones you appear to be listening to something other than an iPOD. Also sucks when your boss can see white headphones and yells out "I said ... NO EPODS ON SITE". Hmmmm, shame it's not an 'ePOD' though.

i regret buying a 40gig. it's too big for my pocket, it's hard to get it in/ou of my pocket with the iskin on. 10000 songs? i won't be able to save up that much in a lifetime.

~taganahan
i put all my cds, all my friends and all my relatives cds on a 20 and its only filled 4 gigs

but i found that the shuffle and mini both dont have enough memory for what i want.

macs and everything else are just computers on the bottom line. if it has a mouse, keyboard and a screen, it makes no difference to me.

my advice, dont get the iPods... (im also a Apple hater...)
they look good but they're expensive, uncomfortable and not as good as other alternatives

i would recommend the iRiver mp3 players.. they're really good..

but if you dont really need/care/use the extra options, and u have the extra cash, and u just want something tht looks nice, get the iPod mini, the shuffle just stinks :P

i'm getting a shuffle, but it was free for signing a lease that weekend with the apartment complex im living in. if i had my choice(and the $$) I would buy one of the dell's in all likely hood. My roommate last year had one, and it was VERY nice and much cheaper than the I-pod.

Nice link too.

As I said...grow up...

Jakob
Why do you tell people to grow up if someone don't like something? I have my reasons not liking Macs it doesn't mean I'm immature. I did tell you my reasons not liking it. I didn't say anything disrespectful things to you, you should respect me also.

One thing is not liking a brand name, but to *hate it* and irrationally rant about it? I say exactly the same to macolythes ranting about PCs.

That all depends on your budget and how many songs you wanna download.

Shuffles hold either 512 MB (~120 songs) or 1 GB (~200 songs). iPod Minis hold 4 GB (~400 songs) and are generally $100US more expensive than the Shuffle. Shuffles don't have an LCD display, so you can't see what song is playing. Also, changing the battery on either model isn't easy and WMA files aren't compatible.

Personally, I like the Creative MP3 players. I own a 40 GB Creative Zen Xtra myself and it works great. The 512 MB, 1 GB and 4 GB Creative MP3 players are generally less expensive than their equivalent Apple models and they are compatible with WMA files. Also, the Creative's batteries are easily replacable. Some Creative models are even equipped with an FM tuner, which none of the Apple MP3 players have.

I do have to admit that the Apple iPods and Shuffles look nice, but I'm more a utilitarian. Besides, just about everyone has an iPod or a Shuffle.

Shop around and try to listen to as many models as possible.

i like my ipod (its a 20 so jschmidt, you may relate to this) but i absolutely hate that the headphone jack is sensetive so that it pauses when you pull out the headphones. this may sound good and all but it really steams me to have to hit the play button every 20 seconds because its always getting triggered.
