There is a game called Kengo (I think) which is supposed to be really fun and somewhat realistic. You go around beating diffrent schools and learning their techniques. You can even do kiai to recharge your ki.

I guess that Musha meant turn based strategy games like The romance of the three kingdoms series.
I love the hack n slash part of the Dynasty warriors series while impersonating legendary characters like Guan yu , the thing is there are no major improvements between each game, and it seems that the 5th one is not an exeption.

That was Tenchu! A great game! The original has had 2 sequels since then, one on ps1 and one on ps2. The Ps1 sequel was ok, but the one one ps2 was storming! Apparently there will be a forth installment this year...

as mentioned, "Sword or the Samurai" for the ps2. Its really good. If you do the storyline part of the game, you will practice with shinai, bokken and sword in a dojo and outside, try to win and give yourself more skill points.
The 2 player combat is brill, each character having different sword skills, some with aiki jutsu thrown in. I love the nukitsuke, its a one hit kill-er !!

Look for the game, i doubt you'll be disappointed. Plenty of blood too
Agreed!! Sword of the Samurai is the closest i've sen to actual kendo...

You can do lots of familiar waza- Suriage, Makikaeshi waza, Harai Waza, Uchiotoshi... the list goes on. It aint EXACTLY like modern kendo, but it isn't mean to be, I give a good portrayal of kendo's roots. I have had the game since it was released (ages ago!over 2 yrs) and i still play it!

Kengo 3 seems to be pretty cool with its traveling feature the only problem is that Genki has not said anything about releasing an NA or european version.

Well, at least you got off to a good start, then!. The Last Ninja and Usagi Yojimbo were two of my favourite C64 games!

Hmmm..(scurries off to find a C64 emulator..)

Jakob
Its the daddy of the old machines my friend! I found a Last Ninja download site a while back, with all the games available as well! Heaven!

Yeah Have like a spirit meter (used in Kiai, seme, etc.) ANd you raise the meter by mediatation. Have a strength training, and reflex training, and speed by various methods. You would go all over the world practicing Kendo! And Maybe has a hidden bonus, the choice of using a naginata has a secret weapon O.O

I wanted to get that but ended up with a medival Chinese war game instead.
Kengo 3 has some weapons other than katana which makes it look quite good, things like spears and chains . I can't work out how Kengo 2 works yet though, I haven't met any one like Musashi or Sasaki yet . That game is just hard work.
