I would also suggest Battle Royal. I know that it is available on Netflix cause I just returned a couple of days ago. Though it was good, it can not compare to the book.
yes, the book was good!!!
although the movie was a bit funnier I think.
Takeshi Kitano is really good as the teacher... so funny... so cruel...
I think I've seen the movie about 20 times now. it just never gets boring!

BATTORU ROYARU!

AND Anything directed by Takeshi Miike :-), try Audition, City of Lost Souls, Dead or Alive. For more sensible stuff, if you like samurai movies there's The Twilight Samurai and When the Last Sword is Drawn. Older samurai films like Seven Samurai, Throne of Blood, Ran is good but a bit hardcore.

The fact that you were both watching "material of that nature" together not only alarms me, but also conjours up what must be the single grossest thing I have ever had the misfortune to think of. Thank you very much. You've both just ruined my day.
muahahahaaa...evil side plan a success!

On a serious note tho', Made in Hong Kong is a brilliant movie...apart from the totally irrelavent skip rope scene(no doubt Fai will continue to support its relavence).

OMG! Realm of the Senses...I thought it was some meant ot be some french genre erotic piece...of course, after the egg scene I decided that somehow...just somehow, there is hope for Britain's future when hardcore pornography slips through customs.

any one know of any good japanese movies? perferably with the usual hollywood garnishes of sex, violence, and of couse a sophisticated character delineation and intricate plot.?
In other words, you want to watch a Hollywood movie in Japanese.

Anyway, it helps if you can be more specific as to what type of movies you'd like to watch.

I just watched "Samurai Fiction" and liked it alot. I guess it inspired, or influenced "Pulp fiction" But after seeing it, I'd think it was more an influence for "Kill Bill" in some places. However, "Samurai Fiction" and the other mentioned movies are still very different from each other. I also like the traditional samurai movies, Yojimbo (later remade into Fist Full of Dollars, then Last Man Standing). Seven Samurai, Ran, Samurai Trilogy (the Story of Musashi).
