During the La Crosse tai kai, I enjoyed watching the youth besides all the "old guys" shiai. The little kids are sooo kute when they fight. There was one kid he would kiai "OOOOOOO", looking like he's going for the Men, then runs toward his opponent and does a Do. It was so funny and cute to watch. And I think it was the same kid, he would kiai "MENNNNN!" then he hits Do, lol It was so kute and funny. Anyone got any little kids kendo to share?

Yeah, it is funny to see little kids doing cute stuff.
Recent Goodwill Championship we have 2 kids participating the Children category. One of the boy was kind of small in size but his bogu was slightly larger. You can see him trying to move with it and blocking all his opponents attack. I do feel a little pity for him to struggle with his bogu, but cute at the same time seeing him moving around with it. ![]() |

I was at the LaCrosse Taikai too. How about the little guy who got the spirit award. He was the 3 1/2 foot guy who had the match against the 5 1/2 foot kid. It looked like a 3rd grader against a 7th grader. But he wasn't intimidated and just kept coming and coming and coming. No points were scored on him either. He was an inspiration to me.

Its nice to see yooung ids practice kendo. Theyre so cute to watch. We have two member who have their kids started kendo. They look so cute practicing their footwork and kamae. Its great when you hear them doing their kiai. They might be young now, but their going to kick my butt when they grow up. Our little kendo champs.
So Donigan, hows the Omaha Dojo. The last time I saw the Omaha members was during Nabeshima Cup. I heard that the next seminar is going to be held there. Say my regards to Steve Sasaki and the rest of the dojo. Im not sure if they remember me though. |

My son started Kendo around the age of 7 , He is 13 now, 2kyu, about 5'0"-5'1" 175lbs. He's always been a stocky kid, felt bad when he knocked smaller kids down in tournaments, I hadn't done any practice with him until a couple weeks ago, He came in for a men, taiatari'd me, was i taken by surprise, he rattled me, the past few months he has been working hard with the other kids in the Dojo with MisterKurukuru Sensei, their tenouchi, footwork, wazas, are alot better, quicker, faster..yeah , they are cute when they're little, but when they grow up , be careful, don't let down your guard...I just hope they continue to work hard,
