British Kendo Association Split Warning?
Im not sure if I have posted this in the correct place but if not moderators please move it to the correct area. Dear BKA member, it is with grave concern that I am asking your assistance. There is the potential of a split within the organisation that threatens us all. I had a meeting with other members last week over the news that two iaido nana-dans sensei's Goodman and Cooke intend to lead a separation basically for the opportunity to obtain the top seats in the organisation. They are discontent with the current executive comittee of Howell and Budden and wish to break away and form their own group. Even though my own sensei says this is unfounded I had a private call yesterday from one of the recently ex-comittee members who stated this *WAS* the case. Please, please do not back this. It will cause the iaido section to split from the kendo section and there fore will lose all contacts with our Japanese sensei in the zen-ken-ren. The people in question are untrustworthy one of them is an iaido empire builder the other one is a fraud with home made grades. Like many in the BKA I practice all three arts, don’t let them be split. A concerned member. |

I don't know if this is true or not, but I think you're a coward. Calling one sensei power hungry and another a fraud and then you haven't got the guts to put your name under it. That's just f-ing weak. Makes me yearn for the thread about why can't we just get along. We're having enough trouble with fake Koryu dojo's and Midevil Knights with lead on their shinai. ![]() |

Although it's afternoon by now I thought this would be appropriate. These issues are around since mankind formed clubs, so nothing new under the sun here. I'm no expert of British Kendo Association politics but there are already 2 Kendo Associations. If there is another drift I'm not sure if that's a good thing or whether it's a case of good riddance. AS for Mr. T, while I don't agree with your wording, I would say that posting this anonymously, makes it mostly worthless. I knew that sections of the iaido were/are unhappy, but don't know the ins and outs of it. As for being unhappy with positions in the BKA, well, they just have to stand!. (Although I can't see why an iaido person would want to be kendo-bucho?). Jakob |

Well being a BKA member and having dan grades in both Iai and Kendo I cant really say I'm that bothered till something more accurate and trust worthy than an annoymous and slanderous message comes out. Calling the head of the Iaido Bucho and a widely respected teacher someone who has home made grades is just pointless...
I also wish to form my own Republic of Jon. I will of course be Emperor and Gibbo can be Shogun if he wants.... er hang on |

I wasnt going to post a second time, but i think you may have misunderstood me. The intention is for an iaido association so no need for a kendo bu cho. The aforementioned senseis cover both aspects of iaido in the uk (jikiden and shinden) and are both in a position to lobby favor. I have nothing against them nor am i trying to discredit either but the facts as i stated above are true (go read on the net) and i am trying to get people to understand that what they are doing is dengerous to all iaido in the uk. As for anonymity what do you expect? A photo? At least i am putting what i know out there unproven or not. time will tell.

A name would suffice. Or preferably leave internal politics at the BKA internal. If there's something you want to fix, work to fix it directly with the people involved, don't come here with your cowardly accusations and slink away. Also theres a BKa endorsed UK forum where this kind of thing would be best discussed... It's interesting that Agent X hasn't bothered to post the accusations there. And Agent X, you've already made a point of slagging off two specific people by calling them egotistical power mongers and frauds. You can't now turn around and say you didn't mean offence to anyone. Leave this sort of thing to the BKA AGM. Don't bring the Association into disrepute or bad press on a worldwide Budo forum. Even if what you claim is actually true, this is hardly the way to raise the issue. |

I agree whole heartly with both Neil and John.
This is the type of scaremongering that can ruin a smooth running society. Commenst such as this shoudl be ignored especially as teh poster does not have the courage to identify themself. I have passed the link to this post to Goodman Sensei so that she is aware of what is being said about her, and advised her that this post is not worthy of a reply. David |

The people in question are untrustworthy one of them is an iaido empire builder the other one is a fraud with home made grades. 2. The joke about Shinbukan Basra has been done to death. 3. I am not happy because my sensei's name was mentioned but not yours. 4. It's not difficult to find out about you because the Iaido community is so damn small anyway. |
