It's actually not too hard to make lightsaber effects like that, given you know what you're doing. I've done them before.

The real good part about this video is the other effects used, like the burn and the sounds and the "force-effects".

Well, considering the kid who made this was 19 years old at the time and that short film got him a job at Lucas Arts designing video games, not too shabby at all.

For not having martial arts experience, their choreography was also actually more entertaining than the "art of the saber", IMHO, mixing various styles, including the cool ground work and a creating ending, though I saw it coming when they started the tug of war....

i saw this clip some years ago. and i thought this fight was actually way better than some of the actual starwar lightsaber fights. this kid only goes to show that with so many millions lucas could had done it so much better...

WOW!
The vid is really cool for an amateur. The choreography is reeeeaaally good in most of the video (except for a couple minor details, like the kicks which look "funny").

Overall, an excelent fan-art piece, in my opinion

Right; I agree that it's totally awesome. I'm just saying that making the actual saber blades is not as hard as it seems. That's excellent news about how it accelerated his career, though.
