I am an accomplished artist, piano and violin player, taught chess, develop websites (currently on a hiatus) ...ping pong

I have done quite a lot, but enough about me! Are there any hobbies that you guys are really into and very much enjoy that has absolutely no relation to Kendo?
Hi,

I have a wife and a bulldog! If you can read Chinese, check this out:

I use to play the flute and was an all-state tenor.

I love musicals. I use to know the libretto of Les Miserables, Aspects of Love, and Secret Garden.

Also love choral music, but can't make time to be in a choir right now.

I've trained in Karate, Judo, Aikido, Western Fencing, & Tai-Chi. I currently also practice Iaido, besides Kendo. I've not even going to list the styles I've cross-trained with.

I use to be really into RPGs. My favorite CRPG is Baldur's Gate II.

I love reading Fantasy. Currently reading Raymond E. Feist. I also like stuff by David Eddings, Terry Goodkind, Deborah Chester, and Patricia Bray.

I also like English lit. Favorite author is probably Jane Austin.

I'm a fan of Arthurian Legends. I thought Jack Whyte's version of the tale of Arthur is particular interesting.

I like building models. Don't have time for it anymore, but use to build stuff like Gundams.

I also like legos. I still have the old castle collection.

I like to cook, or more specifically, figure out sauces.

I like Japanese comics.

Currently, my wife and I's favorite past time is being in a bookstore. I go to Kinokuniya probably at least once a week to browse the comic and martial art sections. We're also looking into yoga.

Just started working in Department of Service Consultation and Training under Health Informatics. Planning on getting a better grip on Access and SQL.

Drawing, writing, manga, anime, web designing, fooling around with Photoshop/Fireworks/Flash/The Gimp. Not so much as an "starving" artist as much as "praise-seeking" artist.

I like to write math hypotheses and theorems, and read up on the Spanish Civil War and transcriptions of the Oprah Winfrey Show for the 1998 to 2001 seasons. I am currently writing a non-fiction book about how similar Captain Stubing of the Love Boat parallels the life and times of Amerigo Vespucci. I also send mail to the prime minister of England on why the British Navy was unable to defeat the Spanish Armada... every week.

despite having to read and write a lot of stuff in my line of work, i like to read and write a lot of stuff as a hobby. but that's just a habit.

passion: music, active & passive

piano, fretless electric bass, guitar, some drums & mouth.

previous experience: double-bass in high-school jazz band, bass & vox in a couple rock bands & one weird "power-trio" heavily influenced by king crimson, primus & nirvana.

current project: hiphop in weird time-signatures with former members of said weird power-trio. the drummer & i are rapping. for loops, the guitarist is mainly sampling from old jam sessions.

dj as a hobby/odd job. i usually do a kind of lounge/soul/electronic/world music mix. at home, i mainly listen to jazz and hiphop, but i don't care so much about genres - i like music in general, unless it sucks.

my favorites this year: DJ Krush - Jaku (incredible abstract hiphop from Japan, the best thing i've heard in ages. see here for details), Quantic - Mishaps Happening & Prince - Musicology.

i also like goofing off/around and sleeping.

I like anime, watching films, reading, listening to music all the time, playing Magic the Gathering once in a while extensively playing Warhammer and Warhammer 40K, reading webcomics, all pretty normal geeky stuff but sometimes I like to walk around the streetsin my grandmother's old cape and a burger King crown.
Oh I also like making Leather Tsubas, thanks to Hotei for making such a great tutorial.

Default Your other passions
While Kendo is definately something that can rightly take up my entire time (other than school and/or work), I am an accomplished artist, piano and violin player, taught chess, develop websites (currently on a hiatus) and I play the game Counter-Strike™. I have played tennis and practiced daily with a Taiwan Jr. National Tennis Champion, studied the art of magic (David Copperfield type magic), play billards, ping pong, film and direct movies, and use the Photoshop, Premiere, Dreamweaver, and Flash extensively.

I have done quite a lot, but enough about me! Are there any hobbies that you guys are really into and very much enjoy that has absolutely no relation to Kendo?

Have you heard of Rhino3D?
new software? never used it before. teacher told us that most drafters/engineers/architects use AutoCadd in their offices. our computer lab is going to be upgraded and the latest AutoCadd software will be added. no, they're not going to upgrade it with those lousy macs, though i like their very stylish look and structure.

Married, three children. Two boys that train Kendo with me and also do some motorcycle racing. So I am the chief engineer of their bikes as well.
Working in the management team of a software company.

I have a wife and two kids, that takes up quite a bit of time. I snowboard, skateboard and occasionally ski. I play judo with my son. I cross-train for all my sports with running and weight-lifting. I like to camp, preferably wilderness canoe-tripping, when I can. I love music in general and at one point edited a 'zine devoted to music and skateboarding. I'm a reasonably accomplished piano player and am struggling to find time to learn guitar. I'm a systems analyst by trade.
