While Kendo is definately something that can rightly take up my entire time (other than school and/or work), I am an accomplished artist, piano and violin player, taught chess, develop websites (currently on a hiatus) and I play the game Counter-Strike™. I have played tennis and practiced daily with a Taiwan Jr. National Tennis Champion, studied the art of magic (David Copperfield type magic), play billards, ping pong, film and direct movies, and use the Photoshop, Premiere, Dreamweaver, and Flash extensively.

I have done quite a lot, but enough about me! Are there any hobbies that you guys are really into and very much enjoy that has absolutely no relation to Kendo?

Well, Japanese culture is a main reason why I started Kendo, but is apart of it in many aspects. I love going to Japanese Matsuri's and getting wasted on Japanese beer. I love meeting new people while drunk, and speaking my drunken Japanese to them. (While they being Japanese speak their drunken English to me.) I love going to shrines and jinjas. Shopping for Japanese fashion clothes. (It's crazy and cute!) I love walking though sibuya and harakjuku at the most crouded times. I love Japan and it's different ways. And while expieriencing all this, I can feel apart and feel seperate from it all at the same time. Anime is fun to watch, but I like american cartoons too. I find them more amusing than dramas.. But I hate claymation. And that is not that popular in Japan. YAY! (It gives me bad feelings)

What I have done in the past is Swimming. I was for the past 5 years a lifeguard and swimming instructor. I love sports although never really good at anything, I like to be active and just have fun with my friends.

But drinking and partying is by far one of my favorite things to do, although my wasit line doesn't agree..

I also like being a comidian. although not on stage, i often just preform within my group of friends in random places. Make the best of each moment, and always joking around. ^_^ (of course with a beer in hand!)

and that is me.. there is a lot more.. but.. i really haven't accomplished that much, and i don't need to bore you poor people anymore.

I have a wife and two kids, that takes up quite a bit of time. I snowboard, skateboard and occasionally ski. I play judo with my son. I cross-train for all my sports with running and weight-lifting. I like to camp, preferably wilderness canoe-tripping, when I can. I love music in general and at one point edited a 'zine devoted to music and skateboarding. I'm a reasonably accomplished piano player and am struggling to find time to learn guitar. I'm a systems analyst by trade.

Drawing, writing, manga, anime, web designing, fooling around with Photoshop/Fireworks/Flash/The Gimp. Not so much as an "starving" artist as much as "praise-seeking" artist.

aside from doing kendo, i play basketball once in a while during summer but all the time during school days. i play badminton at my backyard with my brother or sister just to kill the time. i bike around the dike for a couple hours and i'm also learning how to mountain bike. already know how to make the bike jump. woohoo! i play songs on my guitar, preferably rock, alternative or those funky old song and disco songs. started playing the guitar since i was in grade 4 and still playing it now. i played the bass at my friend's band 2 years ago and i'm still learning it. there was also a time where i wanted to try out lacrosse but i never did cause of the lack of it's influence here.
NEVER IN MY LIFE WILL I TRY CURLING!!!

I like anime, watching films, reading, listening to music all the time, playing Magic the Gathering once in a while extensively playing Warhammer and Warhammer 40K, reading webcomics, all pretty normal geeky stuff but sometimes I like to walk around the streetsin my grandmother's old cape and a burger King crown.
Oh I also like making Leather Tsubas, thanks to Hotei for making such a great tutorial.

Since 1976. I've got a park board, a long board and a slalom board. I'm not much into the flipper tricks the kids do on the popsicle stick boards, but I admire the skill.

I like to write math hypotheses and theorems, and read up on the Spanish Civil War and transcriptions of the Oprah Winfrey Show for the 1998 to 2001 seasons. I am currently writing a non-fiction book about how similar Captain Stubing of the Love Boat parallels the life and times of Amerigo Vespucci. I also send mail to the prime minister of England on why the British Navy was unable to defeat the Spanish Armada... every week.

I'm an industrial designer, and work at a design firm in the east of toronto.
I'm pretty artistic (hence profession of industrial design) so i like to draw and make 3 dimensional art. I'm pretty good in photoshop, and so i like to combine it with my drawing skills and make some crazy stuff. On the side, my friends and I design web pages as a registered company.

I love to cook and bake
I like to read, watch movies, anime, listen to music (rock, underground hip hop, punk, funk, soul, reggae, ska, etc...) i've been playing the guitar for 4.5 years now, and dabble in drums too.

When i get the time and money i also like to snowboard, and golf.

another thing i enjoy doing is using some self-taught upholstery skills to re-furbish old chairs and furniture.

On top of all this (as if it's not enough) i have a girlfriend that sucks up the rest of my free time.

THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH HOURS IN A DAY!!!!!

I do Tae Kwon Do, Kung fu, Tai Chi, Japanese calligraphy (shodo), tea ceremony (sado), White Wolf RPGs, learn languages (working on #4 right now), read, and serve as webmaster for both my university's kendo club and for a 'zine for exchange students going to Japan.

Hi,

I have a wife and a bulldog! If you can read Chinese, check this out:

I use to play the flute and was an all-state tenor.

I love musicals. I use to know the libretto of Les Miserables, Aspects of Love, and Secret Garden.

Also love choral music, but can't make time to be in a choir right now.

I've trained in Karate, Judo, Aikido, Western Fencing, & Tai-Chi. I currently also practice Iaido, besides Kendo. I've not even going to list the styles I've cross-trained with.

I use to be really into RPGs. My favorite CRPG is Baldur's Gate II.

I love reading Fantasy. Currently reading Raymond E. Feist. I also like stuff by David Eddings, Terry Goodkind, Deborah Chester, and Patricia Bray.

I also like English lit. Favorite author is probably Jane Austin.

I'm a fan of Arthurian Legends. I thought Jack Whyte's version of the tale of Arthur is particular interesting.

I like building models. Don't have time for it anymore, but use to build stuff like Gundams.

I also like legos. I still have the old castle collection.

I like to cook, or more specifically, figure out sauces.

I like Japanese comics.

Currently, my wife and I's favorite past time is being in a bookstore. I go to Kinokuniya probably at least once a week to browse the comic and martial art sections. We're also looking into yoga.

Just started working in Department of Service Consultation and Training under Health Informatics. Planning on getting a better grip on Access and SQL.

Motorcycling! Both riding and screwing! (Did that translate into english....?)
Married, three children. Two boys that train Kendo with me and also do some motorcycle racing. So I am the chief engineer of their bikes as well.
Working in the management team of a software company.
