Default Testing Problem
Hello all,

I am having a problem that I have a question about. I am trying to test outside of the regional federation (SWKIF) in Febuary at the detroit Taikai, and my federation says I can't because I didn't pay the AUSKF dues for this year or last year. The same thing happened to me in April at the Omaha seminar.

The problem is this: no one at my dojo (including the instructor) told me that this was a requirement. There was never a form given to me about this of any kind. Essentially, I had no way of knowing about this ( I also live 120 miles away from the dojo). This is not a cop out, I am not passing blame. I am trying to figure out why this must happen this way. I have already called the vice president of promotions, and he said there was nothing I can do. My question is why. Why is there nothing I can do?

I am rather confused and upset by all of this. I don't know what to do and will accept any advice.

Can you remind them that it wasn't a cop out, you just didn't realize that you needed to pay to take tests, and then tell them you would be happy to pay the dues on the day of the exam? Or did this suggestion get shot down already?

Mr. Lindsay:

I am very disappointed you would choose to air your dirty dogi in a public forum. The SWKIF has maintained records for many years, and you have failed to register as a member in '06, and attempted to test in Omaha as an out-of-region registrant after testing two months earlier in MWKIF. I, as president, cannot sign a waiver for you to test out of region when you are not even a member of our federation. Additionally, moving from go-kyu to i-kyu is not traditionally accomplished. Finally, you mention your sensei failed to advise you of the policy and procedures of the SWKIF, which mirror the AUSKF, which mirror the IKF. I have requested that you direct your concerns to me, but have not heard from you to date. Here is my contact information, again:

P.S. Nodachi-san, you misspelled abbreviation.
