I read shogun and its cool because I kinda wanna do all the same stuff Blackthorn did i.e. go to japan, get in adventures so I picked the name they gave him since they couldn't be bothered to pronounce burakusoruno.
Did you know that this character, John Blackthorne (or Anjin-san), in James Clavell's "Shogun" was based on the real-life experiences of an Englishman named William Adams? His Japanese name was Miura Anjin as well. My father first told me about Adams and suggested that I read the novel after I did some research on him beforehand. You can find some info here - http://hsv.com/writers/jeffog/wa-hist.htm - or alternatively do a Google search.

It's a good novel and it inspired me to visit his grave in Yokosuka (near Yokohama) when I went back to Japan last year. Getting to his grave wasn't easy (long train journeys and a lot of walking involved) but it was well worth it. If anyone is interested, his grave is closest to the Anjin-zuka Station (安針塚駅), about 30-45min walk away. As I'm also British (I have 3 citizenships), it just felt awesome when I got there and the realisation (that this "gai-jin" actually had an influence in the affairs of the Tokugawa government) had sunk in.

At the moment, I'm reading another one of James Clavell's novels called "Gai-jin". This too is based on actual historical events so it's an entertaining way to learn about Japanese history.

Oh, back to the topic of the thread...
Yaiba can mean "blade" or "sword" in Japanese. It is also the title of a Japanese manga comic that I used to really like when I was in primary school.

Well my name is Ben, and one of my buddies I used to work with just came up with "Benegizer" one da.y Kinda like the battery Enhergizer, but dropped the "h" (I think there was a H in the battery name.) I can also use it for things like "Benergize, Benergy, and Benergetic" cool huh?

I've used "Hank" for about 10 years now. I got tired of seeing presumptuous names on various online games. I also use trade names for chemicals - it's scary how well they fit in fantasy/RP games.

Hank.

h2o, old nickname used since I was ten or so. It's derived from my initials, and the fact that I kind of like water, and was a science-nerd (and still is )

ZealUK because I used to write graffiti in my youth and I wrote Zeal.

Then after that I was into bboying (breakdancing) and everyone knew me as Zeal.

ZealUK, cause Zeal was taken already, and I'm from the UK.

Came up with it origionally because I wanted to write Azel, but there was already an old school writer called Izel. Didn't want to bite his name so I changed the letters round.

For some reason Hip Hop people can't call you by your real name

I play guitar (of the Heavy Metal Persuasion) and I tend to play with a little too much "attack"

In fact, though I've calmed down (a little), I play with so much attack the string I break most often is the bass E (the thickest one!)

Because of this, the guy who run the guitar club at my old college once said after I'd broken yet another string "Jeeze mate! You're just a SHRED LORD"

It kinda stuck and I've used it as an 'net name for the last 8 years.
